David Venson Espinosa Jr

David Venson Espinosa, Jr., 78, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was the oldest child of Nancy Medellin (nee) Perkins deceased.

David was preceded in death by his step-father Fermin Medellin; brothers Fernando Medellin & Carlos Medellin; sisters Susie Ray & Estalita Medellin.

David is survived by a daughter, Catherine Johnson of Bradenton, Fl; two grandchildren Andrew Espinosa & Zoey Lucas of Bradenton, Fl. Also two sisters, Linda Rankin & Rosalita Medellin; and numerous nieces & nephews.

David was born August 21, 1945 in Houston, Tx. and grew up in Pasadena, Tx. He worked for the City of Pasadena in highway maintenance; as an agent for United Insurance; and as a outpatient surgical orderly at Spring Branch Hospital.

David conducted coach's training thru the Pasadena YMCA in soccer, basketball & Little League. He was also an umpire/referee in those three sports. He was a Big Brother in the Big Brother Big Sister organization. He built hundreds of models donating them to military recruiters for display in their offices. His 3' model of the USS Constitution when seen by a visiting Admiral was moved to the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. He received a plaque from President John Kennedy in appreciation for his donation of this ship.
