Sadden to hear of Professor Farr's passing. Among his many accomplishments, he and Joan helped to start St. Matthew's food drive by collecting and delivering food to the local food bank. He made a difference in people's lives in so many ways.

We remember our neighbourly chats from so long ago when we lived on Aylmer Avenue; those were good days! Joan, I will never forget your kindness in convincing me to 'take up' tennis again. We are sorry to hear of David's passing and send our condolences to all the family. Affectionately, Richard and Marlyn Brown.

David Farr was indeed a scholar and a gentleman. I met him at Carleton University in 1979-80 when I took his course in Canada - U.S. relations. Professor Farr was one of the readers for my Honours B.A. essay in history in 1985. Over the years I met him for lunches, and last saw him in 2005, when he visited me at CBC / Radio-Canada in Ottawa. He had been interviewed about his memories of VE-day in Halifax, 1945. My condolences to his family.

I remember this fine gentleman walking to work at Carleton, his wife tending her beautiful garden roses, and youngest son Jeremy, from my growing up years on Carlyle Avenue. My condolences to the Farr family. Linda (Gunn) Choquette

To the Family, I am so sorry to hear of David`s passing. From times I spent as a friend of Tim and a guest in the house on Echo Drive as a youth I have fond memories of David and the Farr family dynamic.

With Sympathy,

Ed and I were very sorry to hear the sad news about your father and would like to offer our condolences to you and your families. Our heart goes out to your mother who is such a wonderful person, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. We have such good memories of your parents when they lived across the street from us. They were great neighbours and gracious hosts.

Sincerely,

Ed and Linda
