David Ford Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2025.
David George Ford III was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 28th 1948 and passed away May 21st 2025 in his home with his beloved black lab by his side. David was known by family and close friends as Tre' as he was the trifecta culminating the Ford name. Tre's family moved to Morton Grove, IL where Tre' grew from boyhood to man. Tre' attended private schools: Loyola Academy and Loyola University- at that time all the students were male. Tre' wasn't affiliated with any particular clubs at school. Unless you count the "JUG Club" JUG stands for Jesuits (or Justice) Under God. This "club" is also known as detention. There were 2 so-called front runners of JUG Club; Tre' and another guy some may recognize, named Bill Murray.

Tre' was drafted into Vietnam before graduating from Loyola University (he graduated upon completion of his time served in the military). At that time, he had been dating his high school sweetheart, Janice Nonnemacher, who soon became his bride and later mother of his children Rebecca (Ford) George and Tracy Ford. Tre' was drafted to Anchorage AK. The assignment was considered overseas duty.

Tre' was most passionate about his hobbies. In his younger years, he competed in dart and poker tournaments and was an avid fan of brewing his own beer. Later, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW men's Auxillary, and also became a Free Mason. Most often Tre' could be found in in his den studying his collections of arrowheads, gold and silver coins, as well as his antique gun collection. When Tre' wasn't in his den he adored reading western novels and any book involving historical battles. His love for political issues was one of his favorite subjects as well as Notre Dame football. The Irish lost a staunch supporter as he was an unwavering fan; as will FOX News.

Tre is survived by his daughter Rebecca Ford George-her husband Sean George and his grandson Kaden Tre'ce. Also survived by his daughter Tracy Ford, his sisters Kathryn Bogert and Patricia Seninger. There are many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention but -his niece Kerry Lawrence, her son Josh, and nephew Zachary Bogert held a special place in his heart. Additionally, he is survived by his "antique friend" Janice Ford (former wife) who continued to arduously look after him until his passing. He was hopelessly devoted to his Labrador Retrievers. In lieu of flowers, it only seems most fitting that Tre' would like any monetary donations be made to the Alaska sector SPCA. The contributions would have brought a smile to his face because one of the things that brought him the most comfort and joy were his animals.

Woah, words can't describe how much I miss my dear buddy and companion of many years. The best description of Alaska I can think of would be akin to a portrait of Tre' next to one of his peculiar Labrador retrievers and a blind cat. His flinty personality, spirited political fire, love of family, keen wit and biting humor, passion for arrowheads and rocks, devotion to the wild west and its history, Louis L'Amour novels, Confederacy, 2nd Amendment, and ardent devotion to Alaskan Amber and White Lightnin', are but a few of his endearing qualities I so enjoyed.

Until we meet again Tre', VAYA CON DIOS my dear friend. I really miss you and our many special times together.

All these uears....had no idea his name really wasn't Tre, lol. I remember his hobby room...every time we visited as kids, I would sneak in there and touch some of his model planes (pretty sure he specifically told us not to).
