David Fraser, 73, a resident of Dallas, Oregon, passed away in his home on October 28, 2022.

David was born to Robert and Ina Fraser on February 14, 1949, in Corvallis, Oregon. A lifelong Oregonian, he graduated from Corvallis High School in 1967, and later earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in education at what was then Oregon College of Education (now WOU).

David's first teaching job was at Lewis and Clark in Astoria. He later taught at Talmadge Middle School in Independence and retired from Judson Middle School in Salem. He then took a teaching job in Dallas, Oregon, at Polk Adolescent Day Treatment Center (PADTC). It was during this time that David felt particularly fulfilled, as the program at PADTC aligned his beliefs of connecting with the great outdoors and supporting children through love and compassion.

David's greatest joys in life were realized with family, friends, and the great outdoors. He particularly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Some of his favorite moments were in his boat on the Wickiup Reservoir with his children, and later, with his grandchildren. David found true happiness, both as a child and as an adult, camping and scouting in this area.

David married Diane Scribner on March 21, 1987, and they made their home in Salem, Oregon, before moving to Dallas in 2019. David is survived by his wife, Diane, and their two children, Megan Ely (Brad) and Andrew Fraser (Bailie). He is also survived by his grandchildren Kye, Ryker, and Haddie Ely, his sister Deborah Fraser Helsell (Pete), his brother Douglas Fraser (Holly), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

David touched the lives of many, and will be missed by all. A celebration of life open house will be held at the Dallas Event Center, 939 Main St., in Dallas, Oregon, on November 20th from 1PM-3PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on David's behalf to the Applied Arts Outdoor Program at PADTC, 2200 East Ellendale Ave., Dallas, Oregon, 97338.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dave had a insurmountable impact in my life and my family growing up. I wouldn´t be were I am today with out him. Being one Dave´s students that needed an extra hand, I can say Dave was the real deal.

I´m sorry I was unable to attend Dave´s service, as I was recovering from surgery. I´m also sorry we lost touch the last several years. Dave will always be a strong memory in my life. When we taught together at Talmadge his warmth, sense of humor (I remember when he and Ron hid my "teacher chair"for several months), dedication to our special-needs kids ( They always felt understood by him), made every work day a pleasure. After my husband passed, Dave´s daily hugs helped me get through the day.
Diane, my memories of you as a teacher at Talmadge are wonderful also. Remember when we first did Secret Santas and you drew my name? Every Christmas I still put on my mantel the old-time Santa that winds up and plays music.
You and Dave were/are an outstanding couple and I cherish all the good memories. So many people will miss David.
Love, Shirley Hutchinson Reed

Diane, I am so sorry to hear of Dave´s passing. He cared so deeply for his kids at TMS. I loved working with him to help those kids who needed something outside the norm. As a staff member he always filled the faculty room with laughter. I, too, will always remember Valentine´s Day and the Oregon Centennial tie he wore to celebrate his and Oregon´s birthdays. Hugs, Lyn Jobe

I am so sorry. Dave was an inspiration and my rock after my husband passed.
He will always be remembered for his ability to understand people, especially the troubled youth he helped.
