David GOULD Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Oct. 23, 2011.
GOULD, David Coleman, 55, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 21, 2011, surrounded by his family. David was born August 19, 1956 to Harry and Grace C. Gould in Pittsburgh, Pa. David came to Richmond, Va. as a child, and has lived here ever since, graduating first from Midlothian High School and then from VCU, after which he remained a huge fan of VCU basketball. David has spent most of his career in the real estate industry, and for the past several years has worked as Vice-President and Director of Property Management at Century 21 Signature Realty. David was also involved with close friends in G&H Properties, Venture Partners and KGH Investments. David was recognized for his many accomplishments, and for his active participation in local and state Realtor committees and associations, when he was presented the VAR Ann Swearingen Residential Property Manager of the year award. David was also very active and supportive to many community causes including the Grafton School and Jackson-Field Homes. David was predeceased by his wonderful father in 2006; and is survived by his remarkable and loving mother, Grace; his devoted brother, Jamie, and Cathy, of North Carolina; his two nephews, Alex and Harrison, who he loved and treated as if they were his own sons; his long-time best friend, Heldi, David said meeting Heldi was one of the best things that ever happened to him, his "baby sister", Cynthia; his Aunt Ro; and Uncle Paul of Pennsylvania; and his many much-loved relatives in Massachusetts. More importantly, David was an extremely loving and generous man, always worrying more about his family and friends than himself, he said that he tried living his life to the standards set by his beloved and much respected mother and father. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice of Virginia at the Retreat Hospital for their kind and compassionate care for David. A private burial service will be held, to be followed, per David's wishes, a celebration of his life with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in his name to, RHA Howell Center-Tar River, which is a center for medically-fragile/complex children, at 500 Sean Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834. Lastly, David made a promise that for certain he will keep, he is going to give his Father a hug for all of us.

I know it has almost been a year since David left us, but just today I was meeting with a client, and his name came up in the conversation. The client spoke so highly of David and what a great guy he was, and I found myself telling him about how I missed not being able to refer people to David, and how I miss not being able to pick up the phone and get advice from my friend and "property management guru"!! I miss you David, and I know that everyone who knew you does!! Rest in Peace!!

David was always very good to me as a property manager, even though I was am just a small time investor. He always took my calls and made time to answer my questions. That's just a little thing that shows what a good guy he was. To his family and close friends, I am sorry for your loss. Mike Roche, Moody AFB, GA

Bon Air and the Virginia real estate community have lost a wonderful member who is sadly missed already. Over the years David greeted me kindly when I would come to visit Century 21 and would always take time to talk with me. We eventually started meeting periodically for coffee, we talked shop, politics and family and it always started my day off perfectly. I was always so happy to see a familiar face at the many networking functions we both attended, one as recent as last month. It's hard to believe he's gone. He was always happy when I saw him, even when he was in pain. That is how I will remember him, with his beautiful smile and kind words. God be with you David. I miss you my friend.

So sorry to hear about the untimely passing of a great man. I had the pleasure to work with David on boards at the Richmond Association of Realtors and Virginia Association of Realtors the past few years. He took sincere interest and provided great assistance for and with all Realtors, especially fellow property managers. We should all follow his great example and we will miss him.

I knew David only a few short years. He managed my property in Richmond for me. He was the consummate professional, humorous, kind and considerate. I am so saddened that he left our world way too soon. He is in my thoughts as he makes his new journey. And to David's family and friends, I send you my heartfelt condolences.

Although I can't be with you while you remember Dave, you're in my thoughts and prayers from afar. I met Dave through my brother at VCU basketball games.

Well done my good and faithful servant - I will never forget you!
