Remembering all the great summer afternoons we spent with Dave and Gloria relaxing in the back yard at Beacon street watching the beautiful Mohawk River wind it's way by. Our lives will be forever changed without him.

I hadn't seen Dave in years, but I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was always kind-hearted, encouraging and ready with humor when any of us at the gym needed it. He definitely was a person of integrity. My condolences to his wife, family and friends. Dave touched many lives and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to know him, albeit for the time we took Pat's classes at the gym.

Dave was someone I looked up to over the years growing up in Cohoes NY with the family.

I knew Dave as a young man when he worked for Cramers armory in Cohoes. What a sweetheart and a gentleman. I remember that sly smile. I am so sorry to hear of his struggles. He had such a good nature. He is with his lord in heaven and will suffer no more, may he rest in peace.

I wish to send my sincerest condolences to Dave's family, I've known Dave most of my life, he was the best basketball player I've ever known, spent a few years playing along side him in the over 30 League and one year in the over 50 League, it was like playing with Bernard King, when he was on the court he was the king, nobody could guard him. Off the court he always had that smile, his demeanor was always positive, one of the best men I've had the privilege of knowing. I will miss him.

January 2, 2020

My deepest sympathy to the entire Goyette family. Dave was one of the best basketball players that I had the privilege to coach at Cohoes High School. I will remember him fondly. Rest In Peace Dave.

We have lost a great person in Dave. He was full of life, and simply someone you wanted to be around. I got to know him through our mutual friend Lewis McCauley and enjoyed the time I spent with him both on the basketball court and on fishing trips to the Outer Banks. He was a very special person, an intense competitor on the court and a really great fisherman. When he shared a story about work, about fishing or about his travels with Gloria, you simply wanted to listen. The world was and is better for having Dave in it, and I am better for getting to know him and calling him a friend. He will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to Gloria and Dave's family - Matt MacMillen

Condolences to the Goyette family. Did not know Dave well but played against him in CSBL a few times. If he was playing for the opponent you knew you were in for a tough game.

I can't believe I just read Dave's obituary.... I have known him and Michael since we were about 5 years old. We all played in the alleyway between Main and Congress for hours.... until we discovered basketball. Then it was all about finding enough players to have games at George St., Alexander St. The Middle school, or even Carlson's.... What a great guy and gifted hoop player I will miss forever.... RIP dear friend....

Condolences to Gloria, the Goyette family and Dave's many friends. We lost a great man.

Dave pursued his passions with intense commitment and expertise. He was generous, welcoming and kind to everyone he met. He was an award-winning fisherman and basketball player and a craftsman in the HVAC industry, both as a technician and a teacher. After I told Dave my HVAC company claimed I needed a new $5,000 compressor unit to get my broken central AC running, Dave took time from his busy schedule to come to my house. He fixed it in a few minutes with a $25 part that he refused to charge me for.

Dave generously shared his passion for fishing with me. He invited me on his annual fishing trips to the Outer Banks where we caught copious Tuna, Mahi Mahi and Cobia. He also took me fishing on his bass boat, where we caught over 30 bass in one morning while he shared his bass finding and knot tying expertise with me.

I'll never forget my days fishing with Dave, especially the excitement in his eyes as he reeled in a big fish. That image will always appear in my mind whenever I hook one.

Thank you Gloria for introducing Dave to me. I am so sorry for your loss.

Got to know Dave when I joined Colonie Sr Basketball League in 2014. Loved every minute playing with him and being around him... except when he didn't get the 'and 1' lol! He was special and will be missed dearly. Sincere condolences to the all of the Goyette family & friends

I will forever remember the little smile he would share with you along with a slight twinkle in his eye just before the beginning of a game or even practice, that said "game on" and you new some form of greatness was going to take place. We lost a true warrior and a great guy. My condolences to Gloria and Dave's family.

I echo the shock expressed by our friend Pete. Time catches up with us all but it's hard to imagine the life leaving the body of our friend and classmate Dave. He was just overflowing with it. We always enjoyed his company at the CHS/KMA Class of '76 reunions. His loss will serve as a constant reminder to remember how precious are our fleeting times together so we enjoy them to the fullest. Condolences to the very many who knew, loved and cherished this fine man. His classmates will honor his memory always.

I am in absolute shock. Dave was my best friend throughout high school and the best man in my wedding. We would text occasionally, and not once did he mention his illness. Since I learned of his death, my mind keeps going through all the great times, laughs, and fun we shared. RIP my friend, heavens hoop team just gained a superstar. My deepest and sincere condolences to Gloria and the entire Goyette family family.

When we took Dave and Gloria on our weekly food shopping trip to the landmark West Side Market in Cleveland, Dave became instant friends with every vendor he met. He was that kind of guy. His heart was so big--he always had room for one more friend. Thank you for making him a part of our lives, Gloria. What a gift! -- Tim, Alan & Shiloh (our yellow lab who just adored Dave)
