GRADY

DAVID A., passed away on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016, at Heroes Crossing, the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit of the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, from complications of Fronto-Temporal Dementia and service-connected disabilities. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, retiring as a Sergeant. After suffering grievous physical injuries in Vietnam in 1968, he decided to make the best use of his mind instead. He graduated Summa cum Laude from Princeton University in 1980 and earned a Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) from Rutgers Univ. in 1985. He spent his professional career working tirelessly for veterans at both the national level, serving on the Department of Veteran's Affairs Advisory Committee on the Readjustment of Vietnam and Other Era Veterans, and at the local level, as a Veterans Service Officer. He was known for his careful and cogent reports on veterans with PTSD and his successful representation of them in complex claims for compensation and treatment. He also worked in private practice for many years, specializing in the treatment of complex trauma and chronic pain with veterans and other groups. In a final act of service, his body was donated to ScienceCare, for the advance-ment of medical knowledge and training. He is survived by his wife, Evelyne Seebauer, daughter Grace E. Grady (Princeton 2020), and son Russell A. Grady. He is also survived by his twin brother Douglas A. Grady (Darlene). He was buried with his comrades in Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Donations in David's name may be made to the USO, the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, or other veteran's organization. The best action that anyone who knew and loved him can take on his behalf would be to understand, honor and respect all veterans, who have given more than we can ever realize.

David was a continual inspiration to those of us who had the opportunity to know him when he interned at Friends Hospital. David will be missed for his wit and vitality.

A MARINE COMES HOME...

Few, earn the title, "United States Marine"...
Once earned, They are a Marine Forever...

When they die, their Honor Clean, they stand before Heavens Gates and see two signs, Eternal Peace and Marines...
Below the sign Marines is a path...
The Marine follows the path to a Quonset Hut, knocks Three Times and enters...
Behind a table stand Two Marines, Colonel Lewis B. Puller and Sergeant Major Dan Daly...
The Sgt Maj. hands the Marine a Quill Pen and Bottle of Red Black Ink...
The Marine signs his name to The Duty Roster, after which His Heavenly Robes Fade, replaced by Standard Marine Corps Issue...
The Marine Smiles, and does a Right Face out the Hatch to The Yellow Footprints to Muster as The USMC Devil Dog Division...

The Marines Purpose is Clear, to fight The Forces of Evil for All Eternity, under The Command of the Ultimate Commander-In-Chief, GOD ALMIGHTY...

"By The Grace Of God,
And A Few Marines,
It's Good To Be Home"...

Semper Fi. Dave...
