I worked for David at Brooks Barr Graeber & White, before he married Jean; must have been in the mid-60's. David made it a great place for an architecture student to work. I was a draftsman on 2 projects; the LBJ Library and Labor Department Building in DC. Those projects, with David's support, enabled me to have a Selective Service classification of 2-A, and exempt from going to Viet Nam. From there I worked for Alexander Girard in Santa Fe, NM, and from there to NYC.
David tolerated someone bringing a parakeet to work; it was named Malcom Tent. There were 2 elevators that opened onto the reception area. One day I got in with 2 senior architects. Jean said something to them that made them both laugh so hard, they fell on the floor of the elevator as the door closed. It's too long to write here, but I will re-tell it to anyone who asks.

Deepest love and prayers and devotion go out to Jean and Larry and the family.
Our prayers go to David that he may experience safe passage. David had a tremendous life force. He was one vital man and I'm sure this will stand him in good stead on the other side.
Much love,
Max and Barbara

David always had a great story to tell; and his love of life was shown in his laugh and his devotion to Jean and his family. He will be missed by many.
