Dear Dad,
It has been several months since you went to Heaven. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you! When I think about you, I also think about my precious kids and grandsons. It is an awesome responsibility to be a father and a grandfather, and I was proud of you for both. It is an honor to carry on your name. I hope I can live up to the reputation it deserves.
Every day, I realize the importance of honor and family. I know you are with your mom and dad, and Uncle Sid. I also know you are not burdened with Parkinson's, or an earthly body any more. I look forward to the day I will see you again. We can play golf!
I miss and love you so much, and I would give anything to talk to you one more time!
Love,
Your Son Rick

What a humbling experience to read the countless comments about my father. He touched so many lives for so many years. He will live on in hearts of all those who had the privilege to know him.
I think of you often dad and miss knowing that you are there in Payette always with a smile and kind words when I came to visit. Thank you for being the man and father that you were. While I know I will never measure up to you in your faith in god and your kind spirit. I trust and pray that I have and will continue to be a mentor to my children and that they live their lives with integrity, kindness and humility as you did. Miss you.
Your Son

Grandpa, We miss you already! We are fortunate to have had you in our lives so long, yet we still feel like we're missing out on time with you. That is because you are so amazing! One of the (many) qualities that we will never forget about you is your sense of humor. The fact that you could hardly get your story out because you were cracking yourself up made it all the funnier. And your answers to the Balderdash game...we can still hear you snickering as you wrote them. Such a clever, quick witted man. Always full of joy. Just last spring, you practically jumped out of your motorized scooter to get down on your hands and knees to be a "horse" for your 8 month old great grandson. Sound effects, "bucking," and all. It warmed our hearts and we will treasure that memory forever. We love you so much!

I grew up in Payette and my parents owned Shaffer-Jensen Funeral Homes. I played the piano and organ for many events. I loved walking to Grief's Music Center and spending hours looking through all the music books. I've thought of the store and the Grief family so many times in my life. Any question I asked, they could answer. Mr. grief was truly a teacher, and he always showed respect to me as I pored over the treasured piano books, which I still own today. Payette was fortunate to have the Grief family settle in our beautiful town.

To a wonderful father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather, thanks for the amazing Christian example you were to all of us. We already miss you so much, but we will never forget all the great memories and fun times. To Ginny and the rest of the family, hold on tightly to your faith in God instilled in you by David. Our tears of sadness about losing him, are matched by tears of joy by the angels in heaven who are celebrating his return to be with them. My thoughts prayers, and love are with you all during this difficult time.

Ginny, Lori, and the rest of the Greif family. Sorry to hear about Dave. It has been a pleasure and honor to get to know Dave and Ginny over the past few years. He had such a humble and soft spoken spirit, he was enjoyable to talk to and visit with. As the Apostle Paul would say, "Dave has fought a good fight, he has run a good race, he has kept his eye on and achieved the prize." May the rest of our lives exemplify Christ like Dave's did. Condolences to your family. Russ, KayLynn, and the family.
