David Groh

I am watching old shows of Joe and Rhoda now. I didn’t know he had passed away. I am so sorry. I really enjoyed him when I was a little boy. He was my idol.

I was 15 and sat next to him on a flight from St. Louis to LA. My first flight and I was nervous. He had the Stewardesses bring me drinks. I knew who he was but was too shy to say much. The Stewardesses were all over him. Saw him on a talk show the next day wearing the exact ring he had on...I had described it to my sister beforehand but she didn't believe me, until she saw it! He was a fun and charming seatmate!

Loved him on "Rhoda." So handsome and genuinely nice.

I was a fan of the Rhoda show as a young teen. I remembered certain episodes. I knew the charcter of Joe but didn't recall David Groh's name. Recently watched- decades later. I looked up info. On David and could not believe his amazing & very impressive educational background PhiBeta Kappa at Brown Univ. Fulbright to LAMDA & then studied at Actors Studio. Classically trained and brilliant man who was not just a handsome face w/a pleasant personality. I am certain those things helped but were a small part of the total package. I think taking David off the Rhoda show was an enormous mistake the ratings fell drasitically & show lasted only 1 1/2 more seasons. I didn't watch after season 2 as a teen & was heartbroken that the producers forced the separation & divorce. Valerie & David had incredible chemistry & timing and supported each other in their performances. I look forward to seeing more of his work in TV & film. I wish I was able to see him perform on stage. May his memory be a blessing to all.

I remember watching David Groh portray the ever so combative and obnoxious DL Brock during his tenure on General Hospital. His energy to portray that role is what should be admired. Not an easy role to portray in spite of the fact the qualities of his character's personality in the latter part of his time on GH weren't all that great.
I listened to him on 1 interview on youtube and was a very bright man.

My favorite actor

Thoughts and prayers to Mr David Groh's loved ones. He was a great actor who is missed. Rhoda and General Hospital are many of his impressive acting achievements.

Every time I see your face, each and every time, I picture you as Joe, Rhoda's husband, and become nostalgic for a much simpler time. I miss you, but saw you today in a Law and Order episode from 2004. It was WONDERFUL to see you! Thank you for the years of entertainment and nice memories. Rest in Peace.

I was watching reruns of Rhoda and decided to Google what was going on with David. I am very saddened to learn that he passed away 5 years ago. He was such a natural on the show, a perfect match for Rhoda and a true talent. My condolences go out to the family. I know you miss him terribly. And to Spencer, I hope you find comfort in the wonderful legacy your dad left you; he lives on through you. God bless.

I have been watching re-runs of Rhoda lately and thought about how I use to love Joe Gerard; I was just a kid, but used to think he was so gorgeous and kind, and thought I'd grow up and marry him. It wasn't until today that I looked up about the characters and read that David had passed away. My thoughts are with the family, and I feel that David is somewhere now where he is being treated with kindness and still has his great looks. Sincere thoughts to his family.

I, too, feel like one of the other signers of this Guest Book -- that the producers were definitely wrong to end Joe and Rhoda's union. The show lost something with David's departure. Godspeed to a great actor!

Rhoda was over 30 years ago. And it was a good clean show. Kidney disease is not fun, it has hit my sister, and I have had to bury my daughter 4 years ago, so to the Groh family, remember the memories and the good times you had with David. You have TV shows to remember him by, and photos. He was a "Tom Jones" to me, handsome, and thinking of the show, Carlton the doorman, Rhoda's sister, parents, and the story plot were so funny. A show that was a family show that you knew was not going to have scenes that would shock or make you uncomfortable. David is surrounded with family on the other side of the veil, he is well loved, not hurting, and making old aquaintances and new ones. My hopes for comfort at this time, and the family will become close and laugh with things David did.

David was such a great actor. I loved him on Rhoda, Dark Shadows & GH.
He will be missed. My prayers to his family. Always remember the good times you had with him. He'll always be in your heart.

David you will be missed greatly! As a young man growing up in the 70's in south Florida sans NYC, You hit the nail on the head while working on Rhoda. A little bit of Rhoda's world happened every day and night in south Florida households. The Jewish Family Bonds are the same no matter where we live. Rest in peace my friend. You've left us too early, but their must have been a better master plan that you're part of. RIP and Shalom.

The producers were wrong. You and "Rhoda" should have remained married. The show was never quite the same after you left because the chemistry between the two of you was so pleasant to watch. You just weren't the kind of man that any woman would ever want to divorce! Rest in peace.

I was a sophmore in high school when alot of the popular sitcoms came out of CBS television, but I do remember "Rhoda". It was a good clean show as was "Alice". Tinsel Town is losing a bumper crop of fine actors these days. David was certainly a handsome man. I am sorry I did not get to see & enjoy him on General Hospital which is one of my favorite all-time soaps.

i do remember this actor especially when he came on the set of rhoda he had strikingly good looks and he seemed to be a very nice gentleman i also seen him in soap operas and various other programs..thanks for the memories
