I have known Dave for many years as a fly tier and fly fisherman. Once while wade fishing in Silver Creek just outside of Ketchum, Idaho I looked over to see Dave and his father Eugene sitting on the bank, it was quite a treat to stumble across them. I appointed Dave to the GRTU Board of Directors and happily served with him for many years. It was my pleasure to know him and I will never forget his quiet gentle ways.

Back in 1975 Dave and I backpacked into the Teton Wilderness Area, specifically the Thorofare Creek drainage. We trout fished by sharing a "broomstick" fishing rod with a zebco model 33 reel (with 8 or 9 pound line..I still have that reel) and caught numerous cutthroat trout. We were just using spinners that year but for the years that followed it was flyrods exclusively! Dave was a fun guy and will be missed!

The first time I worked with Coach I was wearing a t-shirt from The Austin Angler and that struck up a conversation that carried over 4 years about our mutual love of fly fishing. I will miss Coach and hearing about his latest fishing trip. He was a pleasant and hard working man, my condolences to his family. - Parker Holt, Austin TX
