I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to Dave's family. While I never had the honor to meet Dave, I can honestly say that reading about his undercovery operatives in the book Game Wars, when I was a young girl in Louisiana, inspired me to pursue a career in wildlife conservation. I know he was loved and respected by so many, and his legend will live on.

Our Nation has lost a "True Treasure" with the passing of retired U.S.F.W.S. Special Agent: David L. Hall. Dave's stellar service with the U.S.F.W.S. Office of Law Enforcement over the span of a thirty five year career is legendary.Dave pioneered and initiated a program to inform and educate both waterfowler's and conservationist Nationwide of the importance and significant negative impact of unethical and unlawful Waterfowl Baiting activities had on our Limited Waterfowl Resource.Because of Dave's commitment and personal efforts hard core waterfowl Poachers/ Outlaws were both educated and subsequently converted to what Dave called his "Poachers to Preachers", and advocates for stopping what was their historic way of life, the unlawful waterfowl Baiting and taking massive Over Limit's of Duck's by the aid of Bait.
The unlawful and unethical practice of luring and attracting Waterfowl to the gun by the aid of Bait was not just a Louisiana problem, rather a National problem that routinely occurred in all four of the major waterfowl migration flyways.
I had the distinct honor of working with Dave in 1990 for a two week assignment. I traveled with Dave in Louisiana and was introduced to several of Dave's "Poachers to Preachers", as Dave affectionately called them. Dave taught me the "ART" of Interviewing and proper use of the Video Camera.
We traveled to L.S.U. where Dave and Dr. Robert Jackson conducted classes on hunter behavior science and other related research programs.
I know of no one who did more to educate the general Sporting Public Nationwide regarding the Illegal Duck Kill than David L. Hall.
U.S.F.W.S. Special Agent David L. Hall is unequivocally a First Round / First Team Draft Choice on the Nations All Time Waterfowl Law Enforcement Agent's/ Officers Hall of Fame Team.
I, like many other both Federal and State Wildlife Law Enforcement Agents and Officers were inspired and learned much from David L. Hall. I am extremely proud to have known, worked with, and to have David L. Hall as a Mentor, and "Special Friend".
My deepest sympathy to Dave's lovely wife of 52 years Miss Sarah Ann Hall, Son: David Hall Jr, Daughter: Pam, and Family.

Dearest Sarah, Shirleen and I are so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I want you to know that I am grieving the loss of such a dear and cherished friend, one that I have admired greatly. Dave taught me what it was to be a Special Agent in Louisiana. His work ethic was beyond measure... no 9 to 5'er in this man. I could always count on Dave's unfailing support no matter whose feathers I had ruffled. His work ethic was beyond reproach. As my supervisor, Dave set a high standard for hard work and dedication to our profession, the wildlife resource, and the rule of law. Dave loved his family beyond degree. No matter where we found ourselves he never failed to brag about you and the children.

I met Dave in the early 1980s through Frank B. Williams (my employer in New Orleans) and Dr. Leslie Glasgow (my major professor at LSU). Dave was the most dedicated conservationist that I had the pleasure of being associated with during my career with the Southeastern Region of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. There was never a "gray area" with Dave when it came to controversial conservation issues. You always knew that he was going to be a strong advocate for wildlife and natural resource conservation. He was a credit to the wildlife law enforcement profession and will not soon be forgotten by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him personally.

I knew and respected David as an outstanding Federal Law Enforcement agent when we were both with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. In the 1980's when I was Deputy Director of the FWS Service in Washington, DC, I spent two days in the field with David in Louisiana in his patrol and enforcement work. I was impressed not only with his dedication and effectiveness in enforcing the laws, but also in the way he converted law violators into conservationist.

As the museum curator for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, I can attest to the fact that David contributed greatly to the Service. He was an exemplary Special Agent, and his contributions were legendary. In fact, a book by the famous author of "Cadillac Desert", Marc Reisner, was written about Dave, entitled "Game Wars". Dave also contributed greatly in preserving the heritage of the Service. He inspired countless agents in the courses he pioneered and taught at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. He will be greatly missed by our organization, and was respected and loved by many, including myself. Many species of wildlife thrive in this country because of the dedication and drive of our friend and ally, Dave Hall.
