David Harper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 5 to Mar. 6, 2005.
HARPER, David Robert On Wednesday, March 5, 2005 at the age of 76 years, after a lengthy illness. David was a lifetime resident of Hampton Park. Living in his parents' home he watched the community grow from being Laurentian View to what it is today. He spent his working life as a gardener at the Central Experimental Farm and took great pride in what they had accomplished. In his retirement with his cat Red by his side, he was a familiar sight walking about his neighbourhood observing the changes. His was not an easy life but in a quiet and determined manner and with a wry sense of humour, he did what he thought was right and was very definitely his own person. Many thanks to those who cared about David, his old friends, neighbours, the dog walkers who stopped to talk, care givers, and community workers. David and Red's ashes will be interred in the spring when the flowers are in bloom. Donations to the Ottawa Humane Society to his memory would be appreciated. Sincere and deepest condolances. When I started to work at the Experimental Farm in April 1959, I met Dave. He was very dedicated to his job. After retirement he came back for summer employment. My love and thoughts are with you at this time.
