Hard to believe it has been a year already... Andrea, I am thinking about you...

Andrea,
If you read this, we at Parsons, are thinking of you at this difficult time.

Dave was a great brother-in-law - always ready to hang out with us in Thunder Bay and spend his holidays visiting. I'll always have great memories of being at the camp, boat rides, going to the beach and lounging in the hammock. Ali and Sage especially loved this past summer at camp and the crazy boat ride Uncle Dave took them on. We are all going to miss Dave and will always remember what a great guy he was.

I worked with Dave for several years at Delcan. He was a pleasure to work with in a sort of hard-to-define way. Dave was very direct and honest. When I really needed an answer, the right answer, I talked to Dave. Rest in peace, Mr. Hearnden.

Shawn and I were shocked to hear about Dave. He was one of the first instructors to welcome me to the Camp Fortune family. He will be so very missed. Our thoughts are with his family. We were unable to make the memorial at Camp Fortune but were thinking of you that afternoon.

Dave was a joy to work with on the Wellington St road reconstruction project. He was the kindest, smartest, and most honest guy in the room. I always appreciated hearing his point of view.

Andrea, we are so shocked and sorry for your loss. It was such a privilege and so much fun to work with Dave and the kids at Camp Fortune for many seasons. We are sorry we can't be present at his remembrance service, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you and his family.

My very deepest condolences to the entire family. It has been years since I have seen David but it is with great fondest that I remember all those summers in Crown Point and the long wait for July when the 'city' boys would arrive. I am so truly sorry for your loss.

How sad to learn about this loss. I remember Dave as a teenager. He sometimes came to the beach at McLarens Landing to swim and hang out. Such an athletic young man. Unpretentious, and genuine. Im not surprised that he grew to be the wonderful man well described here by his friends and family. My sincere condolences to all, with special sympathy to Daves' sisters.

Dave was so great, he will be missed terribly. He was a big factor in our lives, and such an excellent influence for our daughters as they grew up.

Condolence: From Zimbabwe, Monique and I are totally shocked by this tragic news. Dave was with us when we met skiing at Tremblant. Sometimes life is so unfair. We feel for you all, Andrea, Mrs. Hearnden, Jane, Mary and Leslie. Dave's many friends. Jess. The cottage will not be the same without Dave around, although I'm sure his spirit will remain nearby to the place he loved. Taken too soon! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. One year, perhaps about 1970, I was volunteered to be the Santa at the family Christmas party at the Hearnden's. The family must have been desperate for a Santa, to pick a skinny 18 year old. Back then, 10 years difference in age was a lot. And now, it makes me very sad to think that one of those kids is gone, long before his proper time to be called. My sympathies to all David's family and friends.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I enjoyed many seasons of chatting with Dave on the lifts, in the instructors' lodge and on the snow. Camp Fortune will be a lonelier place without his laughter to brighten the resort.

My condolences to the Hearnden family and Andrea. I met Dave when I did my level one back in 2001 and he was my supervisor for a few years. He was a great person who always had a smile.

i was a housemate of Dave's for three years at Queen's. I remember an incredibly focussed and driven guy who was also quick with a smiile or to laugh at your joke. He was a great guy.

It is sometimes hard to find words (not for me!): I met Dave 14 years when I started to teach at Camp Fortune. The first year he gave a class with 13 kids in the morning and 9 in the afternoon! He told me to sing along, play games or something – oh yeah: just ski them! ... They were all “never-never”. I switched to private lessons pretty fast. I got that game right! Skiing with Dave was a joy. I also remember the CSIA convention at Tremblant where there was some dancing on a bar and Celine signing... He made me the best Nanaimo bars for my 50th birthday or was it my 40th? Then at a skating party he told me I really couldn't sing like Celine! Dave couldn't be happier; he loved Andrea, his family, his Jess and his friends and life. He will be truly missed. Anne Gendron, Ottawa

I've been working at Camp Fortune since I was a TA 5 years ago, and though I don't think Dave ever knew me by name, the impact he had on everyone there - myself included - was undeniable. He was always welcoming and fun-seeming as he smiled and bantered with friends; he contributed so much to the ski family that makes winters so enjoyable, and will be very missed.

Very fond memories of Dave from my ski days at Tremblant and Fortune. He was a real sweetheart and always a gentleman. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.

I had the good fortune to work with David many, many years ago. His enthusiasm for life was clearly evident, and his confidence infectious. Tragic loss. Deepest condolences to all he touched.

Dave got me back into skiing about 15 years ago and ultimately I spent about 10 years in the Canadian Ski Patrol helping others. Thank you very much Dave for adding this joy to my life. You will be missed.

Andrea, I was so shocked to hear of Dave's passing. It just seems surreal. He will be greatly missed by everyone whether skiing, mountain biking or having wings and beer at Tulip Valley.

I always enjoyed attending Dave's city planning meetings. He was a wonderful individual who clearly enjoyed life. The city has lost a great consultant and friend to many. My sympathies to his family .

Just last week Jess got scared of another dog and spotted me by my front door. She hurried over looking for safety but Dave was soon close by. We ended up chatting about everything and nothing. What a kind man and a shocker it was to hear of his passing away. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

I had the good fortune to know Dave the Engineer and Dave the skiing "Ultravisor". He was always calm and relaxed, even in the most stressful times at work, and taught me alot of perspective on the chairlift. Shock and sadden by this news. Dave was one of the best consultants I've ever worked with. We will miss him.

From the early days as a neighbour at OMM/TROW to our long standing relationship at Delcan/Parsons, Dave was always the consumate professional. The pleasure of doing our surveying / engineering "stuff" together was always enhanced by tales from the ski hill or from on the water at the cottage.
