Met David at DoD shortly after he retired from GM. An extraordinary person, thoughtful, kind, brilliant. I will never forget his counsel and Friendship while he supported our efforts at reform and transformation.
Rest in Peace and my condolences to the family.

Dave first became a friend exactly 50 years ago, when I was a young lawyer on the G.M. Legal Staff and he was a senior executive at G.M.'s AC-Delco Division, to which I was assigned as legal counsel. It took very little time for me to comprehend that Dave was not only a brilliant interlect but also, for many reasons, an extraordinary person. He had a boundless curiosity, an indefatigable energy, and a wonderful sense of humor, which he retained until his dying days. He invited me to join his fishing group, and we subsequently fished together in various Canadian provinces for forty-plus years. He became and remained one of my closest friends and we stayed in frequent touch long after we had both retired from the business world. I cannot overstate how much I will miss seeing or talking to him by phone and chuckling at the e-mails he sent me, as recently as June 27 just ten days before he died.

I first met David in Sydney in 2003. He had come to meet my father Eric (his brother) for the first time. I adored him and cherish the good times we had together. Meeting him and the rest of his family has been a total joy to me and I will miss him terribly. Kerrie Bruce (Sydney Australia)

I met Dave in 2010 when he was brought in to consult my company's newly patented technology for the automotive industry. He was an amazing man, a true Rennaissance Man whose breath of knowledge, decrement and business acumen was extraordinary. A humble man, generous with his time and a true friend who will truly missed.

I got to know David about 10 years ago. We would often meet in Birmingham for coffee and have long talks about the automotive industry. I will always cherish his wisdom and stories. He is a true gem.
