David Humm Obituary
David Humm of Long Valley NJ passed away peacefully April 14, 2025 in Virginia surrounded by family. He was 2 months shy of his 90th birthday.
Born in Tottenham England in 1935 he survived through the bombings of WW2
As a teen he made his living playing semi pro soccer as well as playing drums with local jazz bands
In 1958 David made his way to the United States to seek his fortune. He worked many jobs and established himself in Maryland
His English sweetheart flew out to join him and they married
Through his hard work and perseverance David and his wife Laurie moved back to England over to Canada and back to the United States to New Jersey.
David enjoyed a long successful career as a Food Brokerage executive working until 80 years old.
His loves were his surviving beautiful wife Laurie of 65 years, his children Gillian (Bacso) son in law John Bacso and son Toby Humm and daughter in law Karly , his Grandchildren Andrew, Bethany and Cameron Bacso and Hannah and Matthew Humm. He was truly beloved by all including his surviving brother Rodger.
David never stopped drumming and played his last professional jazz gig in 2024.
RIP Dad they dont make em like you anymore

So very sad to read this, so many wonderful memories with the Humm family and the Kelly family in both professional and personal, our lives were so much better having them as our friends! Joe so much enjoyed HHI vacations and fishing trips with David and Toby! My sincere condolences to Laurie., Gillie and Toby and families.

I'll miss David. We played many gigs together. He was a fine drummer.

It was a great pleasure to have known David. I was the piano player on many of David's music jobs. He was a talented drummer and was good with everything he did. Most of all he was a true gentleman and friend. I will miss you.

As I am overseas, I just saw this notice of David´s passing. I was blessed during the past two years to have many conversations with David while riding stationary bikes at the Gym. Most of the discussions were about the Premier League and the shortcomings of Tottenham. But I am sure as his family can attest, his opinions went beyond sports and for the most part we were likeminded. Thank you David for gifting me your historical perspective of a remarkable life. Prayers for your wife Laurie and family. He is and will remain missed.

Wonderful memories of David playing the drums at the Morristown Library with his group of music makers. A true gentleman and a very nice man, he will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with Laurie and their children, spouses and grandchildren and I send my love and condolences.
