My Mom and David´s Mom were cousins. I remember visiting them at their home in Portland. His sister, Kathy, and I were the same age

Dave and I worked at Weyerhaeuser in Engineering and projects starting about 1976. He was the most humble person I have known and respected. I wish there were more like him: capable, enjoyable and could be counted on all times.

Your Firefighters

Dave,
Your service to the Edgewood community will never be forgotten. Your service to our Country will never be forgotten. So many of us have memories of you asking us for our response radio frequencies, asking questions about incidents we've responded too, or just stopping by to chat with the on duty crews telling stories and having a good laugh. It was our honor to serve you and your family, and we will continue to do our best to be there in times of need. We are sorry to your family who you leave behind, and hope they will feel a little less sorrow in all of the great memories they keep of you. May you rest in peace.

From the crews at East Pierce Fire & Rescue Station 18 (formerly Edgewood FD)

Dave ~ ~
I only had one brother-in-law, you, so of course you win the prize - - just because you were you - the Dave that all loved. I was so attracted to your wit and humor, yes, it was 'corny' at times, but that laughter was medicine to ones soul.
A memory I have is when JoAnn invited me to go to a sorority dance when you guys were college kids and I was still a high schooler. She got me a prom gown from some girl, and away we went.. all gussied up..boy, was I ever out of my league, but, you danced with me ..you were so tall I could hardly put my hand on your shoulder to dance, but you eased my awkwardness. Yep, there is even a photo that Jo has to prove it. The 1950's were good years weren't they.
Oh, and lets not forget the Thanksgiving dinners at the Borde house where we all crashed to the floor to nap off our overeating. And you did make me mad sometimes when you beat me at board games - little did I know then I was 4 years younger, and you already were a genius.
You were a genius who could fix anything..so, thanks for fixing my toaster so many times. You and Ron should of operated a hardware store. And, I have great gratitude for all the other things you did for me over the years.
Life is good when one has a bank full of memories like I do - another thanks to you.
I can only imagine the praise you are hearing from God now for the race well run.. another prize..you were a winner then, and now.
I will miss you greatly, but as the 1955 Jimmy Durante song says: I'll be seeing you - (again)
Love, Judy

To me you were always a great guy and every time I saw you I got excited, no matter how old I was. It was fun when I was a kid and you and JoAnn would come to the house and take me to get a hamburger. In 1961 you guys took me to Honeyman camnpground and we sat around the campfire thinking of names for your firstborn as JoAnn was pregnant at the time. It was my first camping experience. Thank you for always opening your house to me and my kids over the years. I know we always enjoyed coming up there. A special thanks for coming down to Albany over the years and fixing things around my house, from hanging curtains to a leaky faucet.

Thanks for ALWAYS making us laugh. You were like a big brother to me and I'll miss you dearly.

Love,

Gale

Uncle Dave-

Don't know where to begin. Just going to randomly type out what comes to mind ...

So, so, so many great memories of you, aunt Jo and the house on 32nd St. I have many memories of driving up for Christmas or other random road trips during my childhood and getting excited when we got to the Tacoma Dome because I knew we were close to Aunt Jo and Uncle Dave's. There was always something fun to do, whether it was playing the pinball machine or playing with Caleb or driving through downtown Puyallup to watch Backwards Eddy.

Then the two-plus years of college up there and when I worked at UW, getting to spend more time with you guys, it really made my time up there so much more enjoyable, having you and aunt Jo around. Helping my work on my Ford pickup during the numerous times in broke down. You were always "Mr. Fix It," the guy who could fix pretty much anything.

Eating many great meals with you and eating out pretty much every chance we got. Yeah, there were the occasional times where we all were trying to eat healthier, but it was always more fun to go out!

Your humor might be missed most of all. You could always make anyone instantly laugh and one of my best high school friends and I still laugh about a time back in the 90s where I called you insecure and you responded by saying "you look insecure." We say that to each other at least 10x a year.

I'll cherish these memories forever and I know you're in a better place cracking jokes and enjoying being pain free. You were an awesome uncle and friend. Thanks for simply being you.

Love,

Ryan
