PAM and family, I am Creighton Neil White, oldest 1st cousin on the Kiker side to David. I learned couple of days ago of David's passing from Bob Kiker, and while I have not seen David in many years, I am saddened to hear of his passing. We, because of geography more than anything else, never got to spend much time together, especially in our adult years, which is more my fault than his. Nontheless, I've always felt a little more of a kindred spirit with David inasmuch as we both are UT and UT law graduates, a generation apart. But I do remember when he was just a kid, playing football at Tascosa and we were living in Odessa. . Maybe we can meet someday, before too long I hope, since I will turn 90 in May if the Good Lord sees fit! Please know our prayers are with you.

I graduated from high school with David. He was one of the really good guys.

TO THE FAMILY OF DAVID B. KIKER:

Dear Pam and family,

The death of David was received with shock and much sadness. Please accept my personal and sincere condolences. Our years of friendship will always be an important entry in my book of memories.

It would be tempting to say that David inherited the ingredients of his success or that it was something within his bloodlines. But instead it was the sum total of merit, and hard work, and especially, the choices that he alone made for himself that determined the direction his life would take. David remembered that justice is conscience, not just personal conscience, but the conscience of mankind.

As I reflect back David was not only an intelligent and amazing person but a giving person who in his own way was always searching for ways to make life better for family and others. He was a kind and distinguished gentleman of patriotism, goodness and character. This is the light he cast for those who looked to him for help in their darkest moments. The light that led so many who pursued the American dream and the expectation of justice, the light that now serves as a guiding beacon for those who follow in his wake.

David's life bent toward fairness for all and he truly possessed that American quality. He fought the tough battles that were required of him and had a capacity to learn and a capacity to listen. But what stands out the most is not what David achieved, but how he lived his life. He moved through this world with calmness, and confidence with an unshakeable love and support for his family, for the worker, for justice and the labor movement.

David will be profoundly missed and will always be the rainbow in our clouds. Our heart aches at our loss, but his legacy will always be with us. So, at the end of that last tour of duty and hearing the sound of that final all aboard' call we should all come to realize that a life lived believing, giving, caring and loving your family is the only life that really matters.

He fought the good fight, he finished the race, kept the faith and now will received his crown of righteousness. Please know that I am deeply sadden by his departure but blessed with the fact of knowing Heaven has just gained another angel.

Gone from our eyes, but not forgotten in our hearts.

Thank you David and rest in peace.

David, we love you and will miss you. Our memories are many and rich but our many Hawaii times were the best. RIP good friend.
