David Lacy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2024.
David Lacy, age 80, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024.

David grew up in Newport, MN, and spent many adventurous hours exploring the Mississippi river with childhood friends.

After high school he enlisted in the military where he served in California with the U.S. Navy, followed briefly by the U.S. Marine Corps. His travels would eventually take him to Chicago, and then back to his beloved native St. Paul. For many years, David's occupation of driving coach bus afforded him the ability to visit all 48 contiguous United States.

David studied at the University of Minnesota and Inver Hills College, obtaining a Legal Assistant degree and a degree in Liberal Arts.

David was a life-long learner and had many varied interests and hobbies. He enjoyed reading and collecting books, especially those on the topics of American History and the Civil War. David was introspective and contemplative and journaled almost daily for most of his life. He marveled at the beauty found in nature and appreciated all types of art and music. He especially enjoyed attending and supporting local Minnesota Sinfonia concerts. He appreciated his East side of St. Paul community and making improvements on his "Hoyt-House" over time. He loved watching football and golf and was an avid baseball fan. Known for his adventurous and independent spirit, he would frequently be found riding his Harley motorcycle and exploring new places.

David valued friendships and connections. He made several strong friendships while attending regular AA meetings in Maplewood, MN.

He was a loving, supportive, proud father and best friend to his son Daniel and his daughter Andrea. He treasured time spent and memories made with his children. WE LOVE YOU, DAD.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Bernice ("BC") Lacy; father, George Lacy; brother, Roger Lacy; and nephew, Anthony John Lacy.

David is survived by his son, Daniel (Meaghan) Paczosa; daughter, Andrea (Robert Braun) Lacy; granddaughters, Mary, Lucy, and Ruby Paczosa; brother, Gary Lacy; sister, Patricia (John) Deshler; several nieces and nephews, and dear friend, Gail Van Horn.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Southview Country Club in West St. Paul on Saturday, May 11th, from 1-4p.m.

Burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a future date.
