Pastor David touched many lives. He was an inspiration, loving and always there when I needed to talk. I had the honor and privilege of him blessing me and my husband as husband and wife. I removed he said, $Now Melissa, your husband and wife in the eyes of the lord, just not the state of TN" he sure is missed. He was one great piano player. I'll sure miss him.

I will always appreciate you Pastor David.My babies and I needed you when we came to KARM(8/16/2016)and you were there AGAINST all ODDS. Almost to the exact same day, three years later, you'd passed on. I'm just finding out about your passing. I will never forget you, I love you, and may you continue to rest peacefully.

David Lay was a God fearing man. He helped many people while he was here. Let us all remember David not only as a good man, but a good friend.

Thanks David Lay for being my spiritual hero been there for me since 2002 seen me at my greatest and my lowest point nothing ever changed his love tolerance or patience for me. Ir work on earth is finished and now you are flying with the angels singing n playing piano in the angels choir I wonder if they knew what they were getting the day you went to Heaven. I just know your up there with the biggest collection of trophies you stored up by always putting Gods light goodness n love n a suffering world.

David was such a humble and powerful man. He commanded the respect of all that met him not through flexing his power, but showing you that you mattered. I learned so much from him that I still use on a daily basis. I will forever be grateful to have known him and my condolences to his family. David was loved and will be missed.

David Lay was a great pastor kind to all who knew him and he will be missed by everyone who knew him and he has gone to Heaven to live with the Angels and he will watch over his family from Heaven, I know they miss him very much, God Bless the Lay Family at this time. . .I remember David Lay from KARM, he helped everyone he could and he was liked by all he knew there. . .

It's sad he's gone to be with his maker he will be missed he was so nice to me when I was in Knoxville shelter I was very scared he was so nice to me reassured me I was safe my condolences go out to his family

I am a security officer that works at KARM where I first met Pastor David. Every day that I worked, Pastor David had not only a smile but also a smile not only to me but to all who was around him. He was a good man and a God fearing man who loved all the people at KARM. I have heard him play the piano and I was touched with Pastor David's playing. I could tell that he loved to play spiritual music from his touch on the keys of that piano. I feel very strongly that he had two gifts, the piano playing and touching people's hearts with the words he spoke to them. He was loved by all and will be missed by all.

Pastor Dave was always in good spirits and willing to help anyone in anyway he could. He was always praying for me and my wife. He was a good man and he will be missed by all.

I did Security at KARM and had the pleasure of his compassion and friendship. He was a longtime friend to myself and my husband Dwayne Ballard. Fly high with the angels, dear friend. We love and miss you.

So Sorry for Your loss. David was very kind to me. I'm homeless. His piano playing would brighten my day!! He will be missed!!

David was a loyal and trusted friend that could be relied upon to always do what he could to help the least among us as Jesus proclaimed. His service to the homeless of East Tennessee will long be remembered. I am sure he heard the words "good and faithful servant" as he entered God's presence.

David was amazing he changed my life while i was homeless with no hope he show the love of jesus and was bossy at times but i got bossy back love him and miss him he watched me over come drug addiction get off the streets and do it 2 different times he is so loved will be missed

This is familiar verse to all at KARM, I wish to share it now in honor of a man I first met when he taught a class at Serenity Shelter and I was a client there in 2008, and who, with many different roles, has since grown to mean so very much to me ... "Pastor David."
Ongoing Prayers going up to the Great I Am for Strength, Comfort, and Love to envelop all of Pastor David's family and those hundreds upon hundreds of broken ones whose lives he touched with compassion and true love.
