David Lindstrom Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 14, 2017.
Lindstrom, David Alan

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather

David, age 63, left to be with the Lord early Monday morning February 13th, 2017, ending his 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on May 24th, 1953 at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis and grew up in Coon Rapids, where he graduated from Coon Rapids High School. Loving architecture of all kinds, he studied home design at Anoka Technical College, eventually starting his own business, Plans Plus, Inc. in 1989. He operated the business with a meticulous attention to detail, completing over 2000 house plans until the decline of his health.

David began attending Meadow Creek Baptist Church in 1973 where he met and fell in love with his future bride Shari. They wed in 1975 and were together 41 wonderful years. They settled in Oak Grove in 1979 where they raised their three boys, Russell, Corey, and Marty.

He loved skiing, photography, the music of Bob Dylan, architecture, and all things Israel, but most of all he treasured his family and savior Jesus Christ. Family vacations and trips with Shari were some of his favorite memories. Special trips include Israel, New England, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands, Banff, and Door County. Most of his trips were spent camping, hiking, sightseeing, and taking zillions of pictures.

David was a dedicated follower of Jesus, always faithfully serving his Lord. He was a founding member and elder of Abundant Life Alliance Church, where led numerous Bible studies on prophetic scriptures. Even recently when his health made it difficult, he loved to attend Grace Community Fellowship where he enjoyed the worship and Biblical teaching. He loved all parts of the Bible, but was especially fascinated with Biblical prophecy. Much of his free time was spent studying Daniel, Revelation, and other books and commentaries on the subject. He eagerly awaited the day his King would return to take his church home.

Preceded in death by father, Morris; and grandparents.

David will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Shari; sons, Russell (Joy), Corey (Sarah), and Martin (Kelly); grandchildren, Arden, Nolan, Bjorn, Henrik, and one on the way; mother, Joyce; siblings, Joel (Barbara Kauffman), Paul, and Miriam (Dave) Erickson; and many loving relatives & friends.

Dave was my cousin, my older brother Jerry nicknamed him "Brave Dave" many years ago, (at least I think it was my brother) and he was brave in so many ways. He always stood up for his faith and was a kind example to all. I'll miss you cousin, it was always fun to catch up with you at Bob Dylan concerts!

David and I showed up at Meadow Creek at about the same time and immediately hit it off. We skied together, did some memorable things together such as our night on the town in top-hats and tails which I will never forget. One thing one figured out in a hurry with Dave was that he had a tremendous if understated sense of humor. Whenever I think of Dave, I smile. It is how I think he'd like us to feel. Mostly, Dave was just a real, genuine and good human being. I am glad we share a faith that despite the challenges we may face, gives us the assurance that there is more ahead of us than behind us. He will be truly and deeply missed by all he touched.
