In Loving Memory of David G. Longoria

October 26, 1945 - June 24, 2025

David G. Longoria was born on October 26, 1945, to Guilebaldo G. Longoria and Estefanita G. Longoria of Falfurrias, Texas. David was a man of deep faith and love for his wife Esperanza T. Longoria, his children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as "Pipa", he was a loving grandfather to 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. "Pipa's" love was to have the entire family together and enjoy each other's presence. Each of his grandchildren was special to him in their own unique way. David's life starts with his humble beginnings in the Barrio Mexiquito where his family's tortilla factory served the community of Falfurrias and the surrounding areas. A family of 12 and 2 adopted siblings, life in the barrio was challenging but the bonds of hard work and dedication built between brothers and sisters withstood all the obstacles life threw at them. He never graduated from High School but took on the family business with great pride for what his father started. He took on many different livelihoods throughout his life working, in some cases, two to three jobs at the same time as being a tortilla delivery driver, Deputy Sheriff, Police Officer, KPSO disc jockey, Dance Promoter, Stop and Go store clerk and as a Butter Krust business owner-operator. It wasn't until his retirement from Butter Krust that he decided to dedicate his life to public service. He was elected in many different capacities, as a Brooks County ISD School Board member and Board President, as a City of Falfurrias City Councilman, Mayor and Mayor Pro-temp. His love for his community was always in his heart to serve the interest of the children and the people of Falfurrias. His motto was always "Do the right thing, be firm but fair, do it for the justice of the people who elect you!" Although much was accomplished in his life nothing would have been possible without the deep faith in God that his wife Esperanza shared with him in the life they lived together. The deep love and relationship he prayed for to his God and Savior Jesus Christ was all he ever lived for and passed that same love on to his children.

He is preceded in death by his wife Esperanza T. Longoria, his siblings, Elva Lozano, Leobildo Longoria, Olesia "Bole" Garcia, Manuel "Meme" Longoria, Adolia "Lala" Galindo, Robert Longoria, Donaciano "Chano" Longoria, Adan Longoria and Nilda Navarro. He is survived by two sisters, Imelda Longoria of Corpus Christi and Estefanita Longoria of Dallas. Two brothers, Guile Longoria of Corpus Christi and Robert (Mary) Longoria of McAllen. His children, Edna Marie (Andrew) Longoria and Maxine (Bobby) Villarreal of Falfurrias, Joe David J.R. (Mary Ann) Longoria of Kingsville, Laura Anna (Gabe) Casas of Corpus Christi, Marco Antonio (Yesenia) Longoria of McAllen and Rolando Javier (Christina) Longoria of Rio Grande City Texas.

Services will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias. Funeral Services are entrusted to Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias.

Pallbearers will be Robert Roel Villarreal, Yzikiel Adan Garcia, Dylan Michael Garza, Joe David Longoria III, Michael Gabriel Casas, James Andrew Casas, Uriah Nicolas Longoria and Christopher Jordan Medrano.
