David Dean Ludington

On August 19, 1982 a bundle of joy by the name of David Dean Ludington arrived for the proud parents Tammy and Logan Ludington. He departed this life to be with his Lord on July 12, 2013. He found Jesus through many moments of quiet time with his mother. He was a proud brother to Nicholas Lee and James Glen Ludington. David felt his greatest accomplishment in life were his children Dylan Nicole (8), Karter James (5), Jolene Lynn (4), Kayden Davis (8), and Aleena Marie Ludington (7). David attended Seymour High School and graduated in 2000. He excelled in football, track and basketball. His nickname was "Speedy." His favorite teachers were Coach Jack Couchman and Kevin Seney. After his high school graduation, David was employed several places before he applied at John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa in 2004, where he was still employed upon his death. In 2007 he was seriously injured in a car accident that left him with a plate in his hip and several screws elsewhere, but that did not stop him from working to take care of his family. David loved to farm and help his Grandpa Bob whenever he was not at work at John Deere. He helped his parents and grandparents in every aspect of working on the farm and wanted farm life for his children. He wanted his children to experience growing up on a farm as he did. His children were his life, the first moment he laid his tearful eyes upon them his pride was beaming. When he would come home from work or just being out for a moment, they would scamper to the door to greet him and see who could jump in his arms first. He loved taking them on rides over the farm to see what animals they would see. He barely could get out the door by himself cause they all wanted to go with him. Holidays with his children were special to him. He enjoyed watching their facial expressions whatever they were doing, whether it was hunting eggs, birthdays, or Christmas. He loved to scare them at Halloween. He had a fog machine and would play scary music and the kids loved it! He took his children to Boone Scenic Valley Railroad to see Thomas the Engine. This was just one of the many family outings. His father drove a truck for a living and David loved to go on trips and see new places in the United States. One of his favorite trucking trips with his father was when they traveled to New York and saw the Statue of Liberty and the Twin Towers. David and his brothers had a special unbreakable bond that only brothers can share. They had so many fun moments throughout life. They loved to pick up walnuts for their mom, NOT. They would pick them up and throw them at each other!!! Easter was a fun day too. Boil the eggs, hide them, ready, set, go and see how could get before the others. Then, why yes of course, the egg fight was on!!! No harm. Good family fun. David loved all types of music, but his favorite band was KORN. You always had to listen to that if you were in his car or home. Turn about was fair play and he had to listen to his mother's music when he was in her car and she would lock the doors and windows! We can't say enough about how he liked to eat. He would eat at Grandma Erm's and then take home what his mother had cooked or vice versa. We should have had a take out window for him. His mother carried many a dish to his house. The kids would say, "Just give me the cookies. That's dad's food." A formal send off will include his family wearing his Korn shirts. He departs this life leaving to cherish his memory his children: Dylan, Karter, Jolene, Kayden and Aleena; his parents: Tammy and Logan Ludington; brothers: Nicholas (Tawnya) and his sons Zack and Jacob and step-sons Dakota, Austin, Dustin and Lane and brother James (Jenny) and son Dwaine and stepson Cameron. Other survivors include grandparents: Bob and Erma Ludington, great aunt Virginia Powders of Unionville, Missouri and his uncles and aunts: Mark Sharp (Shelly), Charles Sharp (Bambi), Paula McClaflin (Bruce), Bobby Ludington (Cindy), Tommy Ludington (Robbie), Brenda Hicken (Boyd), Louise Ludington (Bob), great aunt Eva Gatrel and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Charles Sharp, uncle Rick Sharp, and great grandparents Lewis and Cora Gatrel.
