You will live on through your beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren who will be taught to live the way you lived and to make a difference, the way you did. Think of you every day. Joan

In 1963 David's ambition for the school and his vision for us was beyond that of most. He worked tirelessly at both and, especially for the latter, I will always be grateful.

A first class gentleman who had a long and lasting influence on my life and that of many others.
Brentwood & Collingwood are legacies that will, like he, stand the test of time.

I only attended Brentwood for one year in grade 12 but have clear memories of a very kind and patient man, as many others have noted. He enjoyed a very long and active life, which I am sure his family is very proud of.

Uncle David, Sherry & Aunt Mai

A dearly loved Uncle I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked due to distance. Thinking of the time when Uncle David and Aunt Mai were last in Scotland and how impressed Uncle David was with Charlie (the parrot) brings fond memories of what seems like only yesterday. Our loss is truly God's gain in heaven.

I heard about David's death through Denny Boyd's article in one of our local papers - in which he was rightly honored as "a perfect gentleman" . Although I only attended Collingwood for the first two years it was open, I have fond memories of a warm and caring man who gently yet firmly guided me through two of the best years of my school career. I am in awe of all he experienced and accomplished in his life and am honored to have known him. Thank you for Mr. Mackenzie,for sharing your wisdoms and gifts with us.

I will always remember the first time I met Mr. Mackenzie, sitting behind his desk at Collingwood School just before it opened. His education vision created a school that gave me every opportunity I could hope for. I will be forever grateful.
With deepest sympathies,

As was so often mentioned about DDM, he was a very kind, gentle, tolerant soul, and always worked hard in the background to put a student gently back upon the right track - with a subtle, but yet meaningful kick.
For that, we will all be forever grateful to this wonderful man.
Sheila put it oh so ever correctly last week, when she suddendly discovered, many moon ago, that she had a HUGE family.
Warm regards and deepest respect,

His encouragement, praise, and sense of fairness taught me to appreciate life, learn justice, and have the confidence not to fear failure. A true "gentle man".

David's legacy is realized best by the schools he founded graduating young men and women who go on in life imbued with
the qualities that made David the great man he was. His was a life well lived;
he was an inspiration for all of us.
