David was my operations manager at sears he was directly responsible for the asset protection department. I was about 22 years old with no real understanding of how to govern myself when around "corporate" level management. David showed me so many things that allowed me to become the person I am today. He never led with his title or position, he met people where they were. I am saddened to learn of his passing but I am glad to have had him in my life when I did.

October 4th 2024 is the day they buried David Mattson. This is his obituary and tells you more about his life than I can. Who is David Mattson? He was my best friend during the most dramatic and traumatic years of a young man´s life, high school. David, myself, and Darrell went to Klein High School together from 1979 to 1983.

After graduation we slowly lost contact with each other. I remember the days when he worked in the Hardware department at the Sears at Greenspoint Mall. His mom worked for Sears as well.

When he told Darrell and me that he was starting to see Natalie, we told him he must be crazy. She was much younger than we were and we were only seniors in high school at the time.

He was crazy alright. He was crazy in love. Some people can search their entire life to find true love and happiness. David simply walked across the street and found the woman he would raise an incredible family with and spend the rest of his life with. Like David, she´s an amazing special person full of love and devotion.

David was the kind of man the world needs more of. This world lost another one of the best of us. Sending much love to his family and the love of his life, his wife Natalie.

David had the best smile and outlook on life and work. He was a pleasure to work with and talk to. He was a great example of how to lead by caring about his team and business partners. His positivity radiated and was infectious. He will be truly missed. May he rest in peace.

When we used to work at Office Depot David would always have a can of Lysol, cough drops and medicine in his desk just for me because he knew how much I got sick. Lysol to spray me and meds to make me feel better

It has been many years, but I remember all the fun times from high school. We played a lot of basketball in the street, made trips to the beach in Galveston, and just hung out and had a good time. I have great memories of our friendship. Thank you, David, for allowing a nerdy kid to be a part of the group. I will always fondly remember your kindness and friendship. Your old friend, Steve Ayala

A memory I have of David is the day he started at Office Depot and he was my Assistant manager. We clicked almost immediately. I was going to leave Depot and he convinced me to stay and here we are 20 years later working side by side through it all. He was an amazing man. We´ve had lots of laughs and fun working together. I can definitely say he will be missed by many, he left a memory with everyone he crossed paths with. I will remember his laugh, his sense of humor and his corny jokes.
He really thought his jokes were funny, lol! Love you David

After meeting and getting to know David better, I felt so blessed that he was going to be the future Grandfather to our newborn Great Grandchild, Rhyder, and then later to his sister, Rayleigh! His gentle and quiet Christian demeanor was so reassuring to me, knowing that he was going to be a strong influence on their future lives! And he was, even though it was a shorter time than anyone ever imagined. They both loved him unconditionally because they felt his love for them and felt safe in his protective presence! David, you left us too soon, but what a beautiful legacy you left behind. My husband, Mike, and I will make sure that your legacy lives on for many years in the lives of Rhyder and Rayleigh. May God protect your beautiful family in your absence, keeping them safe from any harm, until you are all together one more time. --- With love, Sylvia and Mike Eden
