David Stewart McCarson

David Stewart McCarson, aged 72, passed away on August 30, 2024, in Columbus, GA. Born on November 9, 1951, in Miami, Florida, David was a vibrant soul known for his love of adventure and the great outdoors.

From his early days in Miami, David was drawn to the ocean. His passion for sailing, scuba diving, fishing, and spearfishing was evident to all who knew him. He attended the University of Miami to study Electrical Engineering, but soon realized that his heart lay in exploring new horizons. This realization led him on a cross-country adventure from Miami to San Francisco, where he embraced the beauty of the National Parks.

David eventually made his home in Las Vegas in the early '70s, where he not only found a career in the gaming industry as a pit boss but also a family. He was a cherished leader in his family and his community, always ready to share in an adventure or a quiet moment alike. His love for the ocean stayed with him, leading to numerous family trips to San Diego and Baja California, where body surfing, boogie boarding, clam digging, and deep sea fishing were frequent activities.

David was also a passionate sports fan, especially of the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami, which brought him immense joy and lively discussions.

He is survived by his son, Sean T. Ruckman and wife Michelle; daughter, Leandrea K. Ruckman; granddaughter, Julia M. Rutledge and husband Riley; grandson, Michael E. Ruckman; and great-grandsons, Kolton S. Rutledge and Dallas B. Rutledge. David was preceded in death by his parents, Sally S. and Raymond McCarson, and his grandson, Sean M. Ruckman.

In keeping with his wishes, no memorial services will be held. David's ashes will be privately spread across two of his favorite locations at a later date. Georgia Cremation in Columbus, GA, is assisting the family during this time.
