David McGranahan Obituary
A Memorial Visitation for David L. McGranahan, age 66, of Fairmont, MN, will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with a prayer service at 12:00 pm. David passed away on Monday evening, August 1, 2022, at his home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
David Lee McGranahan was born on December 30, 1955, in Fairmont, MN. He was the son of Arland and Wanda (Willard) McGranahan. David attended public schools in Granada, Fairmont, and Trimont before graduating from Trimont High School in 1974.
On June 20, 1998, David was united in marriage to Ann Ehlert. David welcomed stepchildren, Beth and Jeremy into his life. The couple resided in Fairmont where David worked as a Line Supervisor for MRCI before his retirement in January of 2018, after twenty-seven years.
David was a member of the Universal Life Church Ministries as well as the Paint Horse Association. Much of David’s life revolved around horses. He was very active raising horses as well as training and showing them.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ann McGranahan; stepchildren, Beth (Josh) Leiding, and Jeremy Zimmer; grandchildren, Jaiden Leiding (Dylan Gerken), Gabby Leiding, Saige Leiding, Mollie Leiding, Madeline Zimmer, and Noah Zimmer; sister, Debra (Curly) Mason; mother-in-law, Pat Ehlert; brother-in-law, Jeff (Kim) Ehlert; sisters-in-law, Paula McGranahan, Debbie Erickson, Lori (Connan) Lee, and Terri Ehlert; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Along with his parents, Arland and Wanda McGranahan, David was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela McGranahan; niece, Marquita Mason; brothers, Milo McGranahan, and Robert McGranahan; father-in-law, Meryle Ehlert; sister-in-law, Peggy Ehlert; brother-in-law, Rodney Ehlert; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Ann and families, I am so sorry to hear of David’s passing. He was a compassionate and tender man to those he loved. I know Chuck will be waiting at the pearly gates with the biggest smile that his friend has joined him. My heart goes out to you Ann, big hugs.

Dave left a long list of many many friends. He was always there to help and support anyone that needed him. He will be missed by so many. His great sense of humor put a smile on your face and would uplift your spirit when you needed it.
My deepest sympathy to you Ann, and all that knew him. He will be sorely missed.

David (and his mom) were like family to me way back in the day. He and I shared our love of horses and life. I imagine he's now with his family that passed before him and all the horses he knew and loved. Happy trails to you David! My condolences and sympathy to his family for their loss.
