Kathy, Dave and I have been friends or almost 46 years. I knew them their entire married life. My heart aches for Kathy and her family. Dave was such a kind and thoughtful person. Dave was what we in the trade call a pup, at the Davis Bessie fab shop in the 1970's. I was only 10 years older than him, but we fit in with the older tradesmen. So it is no suprise to me that he was so well liked buy everyone.
RIP my friend

My heart aches for Dave's wife and family. He was one of the finest people I have met in all my years working with the United Association. We had fun every time I came to Vermillion, and I'm glad we stayed in touch. He had so much integrity and stood steadfastly for what is right and good in the labor movement. He was funny, thoughtful, kind, generous and so much more. He should have had a 30-year retirement. He is gone much too young. There are no words of comfort that can ease the pain Kathy and the family feel right now. I just want to express my heartfelt condolences and share my voice with others in praise of Dave and all he achieved and stood for in his life. A truly great person.

Dave and I were colleagues and friends. We taught in the welding department at Terra State Community College in Fremont, OH for 9 years.

Dave was a good friend and highly competent welder and teacher. Dave was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

I want to send my condolences to Dave's wife, children, friends and other family members. May our Lord Jesus Christ bless each and every one of you always.

Jenny, Kathy, Matt and Family, I am so unbelievably sorry for your loss. It was an honor to know Dave (aka Jenny's dad). The many years at Sandy Shores that we spent together have always stayed with me. Dave was always a fun "dad" to hang out with. My trips to Vermilion to stay with you will never be forgotten. I am beyond words to learn of David's sudden passing. My heart grieves for your loss. I always enjoyed his comments about how much he loved his family and how proud he was of them. He was a good man and one of integrity. I was blessed to have known him as a classmate and friend. He will be greatly missed. May the following verses bring you comfort during this difficult time.

What must it be to step on shore and find itHEAVEN;
To take hold a hand and find itGOD'S HAND;
To breathe a new air and find itCELESTIAL AIR;
To feel invigorated, and find itIMMORTALITY;
To sail from the care and turmoil of earth
To one unbroken calm;
To land there and find itGLORY.

Although it is difficult to look beyond the sorrow.
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

Dave would make a point of saying Hi to me when he came to the JATC building for the Local 42 Health & Welfare meetings. That was very nice of him. It meant something to me that he took the time to just say Hi. He will be sorely missed by all. I will miss his nod, smile and Hi. Thank you, Nancy J., JATC Administrator Local 42

I stand with many others that carry heavy hearts today upon hearing of the passing of Dave. From a business perspective, he was the type of man that improved any Board or organization that he participated in with his unique way of seeing all sides of an issue in a level-headed manner. From a personal perspective, Dave was someone that genuinely cared about people from all walks of life and took pride in representing their best interests. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all family members who lent him to us during work days for so many years.

Dave loved teaching !

It is with a very heavy heart that I extend my condolences to Kathy and the family. As Apprentice Coordinator at the college, Dave was instrumental sharing his love of welding and skills with our students and loved by local 50 and 42 family. Admired by students and coworkers, his sharp wit and smile will be remembered by all. I considered him a great friend and co-worker. Knowing his culinary expertise, I had just called on him for dinner recommendations in Vermilion. He was excited to kick off our START program but even more excited to spend the summer with his family. I promise to try the stuffed artichokes at Touche in Vermilion! Cheers to the best heavy metal welder I was lucky enough to know!
