Jo-Anne and I remember with great fondness the rides to work in the morning from Dover. David was a friend. A joy.
You left us too soon. You left us with the right direction to help others and to always remember to laugh!

I was so sorry to hear about Dave. I worked at Convexity for about 8 years and I would encounter Dave in the hall or at lunch many times. He would tell a story at lunch and everyone would listen. Or he would laugh at someone else's story. I appreciated his kindness to everyone, including myself. And I always thought he had a very cool attitude towards life. May time help you find some peace.

Dave was an incredibly gracious, engaging, and talented human being. He was inclusive and inviting. He made a point of ensuring the people around him felt at ease. I cannot think of a more self-aware yet understated and giving individual. What a North Star he was and will always be!

We are all still shocked and saddened about the passing of your indescribably wonderful husband and father.
We feel so fortunate to have known him. His warm personality was like a beacon of sunshine. He has three fantastic children, who are evidence of what a great father he was. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I will always remember our joint business trip to Berlin where we witnessed and participated in dismantling the Berlin wall even with his cast on his hand from a skiing accident.

David was an amazing guy. My wife and I have his entire family in our hearts and prayers.

I am stunned and deeply saddened to hear this news about David. To you Michele, Andy, Jamie and Melissa I send my deepest condolences and very warm hugs. When I think of him I see his smile, warm and genuine, every single time I saw him. You personally touched me and my family in ways that remain cherished. Much love and support to each one of you. A loss so great.

Our thoughts are with Michelle, Andy, Jamie and Melissa. Dave added so much to so many of our lives and as we all grieve his loss with you, we can all be grateful for his many gifts, friendship and thoughtfulness that were hallmarks of his life.

David was one of my favorite people in high school and college. His passing leaves a hole in my heart. Sending love and peace to his family.

I am stricken by the news of Davey. We worked together at Harvard for several years. I also, more than once, tried to follow him through Alta's moguls. Davey never failed, not one day, to bring us to laughter over some irony of everyday life. He was special. It was a privilege to have known him. My regards to the family!

Michele: You don't know me but I am a cousin from Michigan and met up with Beverly and Gene when we both lived in Colorado. Our mothers were not only cousins but best friends!

I just read of your husband's passing and wanted to let you know that you and your children are in my prayers. Reading your husband's obituary, it sounds like he was quite a wonderful husband, father, friend and person in general.

Michele, Andy, Jamie and Melissa- Dave's death has truly shaken me. He was iconic in the investment world, but that's not what defined him. Meeting Dave for the first time would offer no sense of who he was and what he had accomplished in business. Instead, what you observed with Dave was a man who was humble, kind, and dedicated to family. He also was incredibly generous with his time and his philanthropy. I experienced both first hand, and will always remember his support and warmth. Raising our families in Dover, watching our girls on the soccer field, and immersing ourselves in asset management, created connections for me with Dave that seemed omnipresent. Within all of that, I always enjoyed Dave's company, admired him from so many perspectives, and truly mourn his loss. Living on the same floor these days with Andy and Laura has reminded me of the Mittelman style and charm, which Dave exuded. Heidi and I said our most sincere sympathies to all of you regarding the loss of this wonderful man.

Michele, We shared a Middlebury & Dover connection and I will always remember Dave smiling as if we shared a special secret that nobody else knew. Everybody wanted to be around Dave, but there was only so much of Dave to go around. How fortunate for you to be happily married for so many years and have a wonderful family together and be probably the only person on earth who knows exactly what was behind his mischievous smile.

Dear Michele: Words can't easily express the deep sadness that we all feel right now. Dave's loss is just terrible, but I will always remember him as one of the most upbeat, engaging, and enthusiastic people I've ever met. As Sean noted, it'll be hard to look up into the nighttime sky and not remember just how passionately he loved the stars. No doubt he brought that same passion and energy to everything he did. Dear Michele, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of David's family and friends as we all mourn not being able to see him again. We met Dave through his love of astronomy and enjoyed working with him as he planned his New Mexico observatory. He loved our pristine New Mexico night skies as much as we loved sharing them with him each time he visited. David's enthusiasm lit up whatever room he entered, and will continue to do so as he looks over us all.
