David ( Molina Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 24, 2026.
David "Davey" E. Molina, 65, of Desoto, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026. To those who truly loved him, David was a treasured brother, uncle, father, grandfather, husband, and friend whose presence brought warmth, joy, and meaning into their lives. He moved through the world with creativity, compassion, and a childlike sense of wonder.

Although David made his home in Illinois for many years, his roots remained in Port Arthur, Texas, a place that shaped who he was. The Lone Star spirit lived on in him through his warmth, generosity, love of good food, and quiet determination.

True to his roots, David lived life on his own terms, with grit and humor. He painted, wrote poetry and songs, played guitar, and loved to cook. His tamales - famous among family and friends, and his cakes were expressions of love as much as talent. Through food, humor, and generosity, he brought people together and made them feel at home.

An avid fan of Star Trek, David often reminded friends and family, "Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end," a motto he lived by, always seeking to understand, help, and uplift others. while embracing the message "Don't dream it, be it," a philosophy reflected in every creative endeavor, musical performance, and playful moment he shared with loved ones.

David was known for his humor, warmth, and generosity. He shared wisdom through stories, jokes, and acts of kindness. When he gave, he gave his all; when he took, it was only what was needed. His presence brought light into the lives of those around him, and his loss is deeply felt by all who truly loved him. He is survived by his children, Brandon and Brenda; his brothers, James and Victor Molina; his sisters, Rebecca Armstrong, Mary Watts, Terri Dunham, and Lisa; his wife, Melissa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, including nephew, Sean, who served as one of several caregivers throughout his life.

Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is handling arrangements, and a Celebration of David's Life will take place Thursday, March 19 from 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM at the DeSoto City Hall.
