David was a true asset to the Mission as he continued his father's vision for helping the least, the last and the lost. David was a true servant in his roles here at the WSRM for many years.
My first day on the job included riding around in a yellow box truck with David behind the wheel. Ray Gentry and myself were passengers as we were taking barrels to schools for the upcoming December Food drive. I will never forget before leaving that morning, Ray pointed to a handle in the truck and said hold on to this handle. Ray said, we call it the "hell handle" when you ride with David. You will see what I mean when he starts driving. Boy, did I ever. David ws the scariest person I have ever ridden with in my life. That handle was used very much on that day. Other than that challenging first day, all the other days and years working alongside David were a blessing. He always listened to your ideas and also showed genuine care for me and my family. David also cared for the people we served.
David served the longest as the Operations Director until he needed to go part time and serve as our Community Outreach Specialist. David served with care for many years even when he was sick. David never placed his needs above another person needing something. He showed me this quality many times and I know he did the same until he couldn't anymore.
