David was an inspiration to so many. His drive and determination to build a better world was amazing. Joan, good wishes to you and your family.

Joan, Dave and I shared a common passion in the Experiment in International Living. We worked closely on the World Learning board for many years and I was quite fond of him. You and your family have my deepest sympathy over his loss.

I had the opportunity as a young lawyer more than thirty years ago to watch Mr. Murdoch at board meetings of the Pennsylvania Housing Facilities Authority. I was struck by his clarity of thought and expression, his reasonableness and his keen intellect. I remember thinking that he represented what a lawyer should be. I have always remembered that experience.

I knew David for many years as a legal colleague. He was an outstanding lawyer and consummate gentleman. The legal community will miss him. My thoughts are with his family.

I knew David in high school. He was one of the most intelligent, wise, and charismatic people I have ever known. Others looked up to him naturally. He was truly a born leader.
