David Myers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2017.
Born January 29, 1958, David Ralph Myers was just 59 when he passed away July 15, 2017, at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas, of Leukemia. His loss has been a great blow to his children, Shannon and Patrick Myers, as well as his many friends throughout the world.

David will be remembered at a Liturgy on August 6, 2017, at Our Lady's Maronite Catholic Church, 1320 East 51st Street, Austin, Texas, 78723. The Liturgy will begin at 10 a.m., with an informal gathering afterwards at the church. An inurnment will take place in Birmingham, Alabama, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church's columbarium on August 9, 2017, following a prayer service on site.
In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, David's sons ask contributions be made to the Walter Morse Jr. funeral fund at Our Lady's Maronite Catholic Church in Austin.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, David was the only child of Virginia and Ralph Myers, both deceased. He is survived by his two sons and extended family including Scott Nichols and Rick Nichols, cousins David was close to throughout his life. He also leaves behind a much-loved church family at Our Lady's Maronite Catholic Church, including dear friend, Walter Morse Jr,. and beloved companion, Juanita Painter.

An outgoing and curious man, David achieved a second degree black belt in PaSaRyu under master Kang Rhee who knew and personally trained some extraordinary fighters including Elvis Presley and Bill Wallace. David was extremely gifted as a database administrator at Dell, and was working at Accenture at the time of his passing. He loved reading, playing bridge, adored cats and published a novel called "Prophecy of Snow". He was on a competition barbecue team in Memphis, Tennessee, as part of that city's Memphis in May celebration. Later in life he visited Brazil, falling in love with the language and the culture. He was a card-carrying member of Internacional's Soccer team in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He spent many years studying the Portuguese language, and spoke it fluently. He further shared in the culture and language of Brazil in a local Portuguese group in Austin.

David Myers was a kind and generous person who cared for others needs. Its very heartbreaking how he had to go so soon. A shock to everyone, but we know David is smiling at us from where he stands now. My deepest sympathy is offered to his sons Shannon and Patrick. The Lord is with you.

What I admired most about David was his dedication to his Sons. I know he deeply loved and was very proud of both Shannon and Patrick; their well being and happiness was his primary focus. Wish I had had the opportunity to reconnect with my old friend before his passing. My sincere condolences to David's Family.

So sad, this guy would give you everything he owned and never think twice about it. There is no nicer person that I know. I wish the best to the boys as they deal with losing a great dad!

I knew David as a co-worker for many years. I remember him as an intelligent and helpful person. He was always in a good mood, and as I reflect on him I can hear his familiar chuckle. David always looked forward to his sons visits and was eager to brag about them. My condolences to his family, he is gone far too soon.

David, I am so very sad you are gone. You are passionate about the LORD and your beautiful cats. You loved your sons Patrick and Shannon and was so very proud of them both always bragging about their accomplishments and your love for each of them. You are a fantastic writer and gentle human being. You were a hardworking IT guy. Having worked with you many years I will miss your wisdom and wit and your quest to always "get it right" even it it was just whether or not it was a "fake news story"! Rest In Peace, my friend, as we all mourn the loss.
