"But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength"
~ 2 Timothy 4:17
DAVID ANTHONY NOLAN, or Dave as most everyone called him, passed away suddenly in his sleep on Thursday, December 26, 2019. He was 55.
He was born on March 27, 1964 (that year's Good Friday as his sister liked to remind him) to his parents, the late Clarence, Jr. and Audrey (nee Malinosky). Their second child, and only son, David's goal was to do what the second sibling tends to do best: aggravate and annoy his older sister, Patricia "Patti" Ann.
David was an Ironmen and a graduate of Cleveland Central Catholic, Class of 1982-an honor he was able to share with several of his nieces and nephews.
As a young adult, David often volunteered down at the Cleveland Metropark Zoo, often working side-by-side with his father. One of his favorite photos of him and his father was taken while they held a snake on their shoulders while volunteering. In addition to the zoo, he would sometime be found on the stage of the St. Patrick West Park Drama Club.
In 1991, he was named Godfather to his niece, Victoria, and was responsible for giving her the god-awful nickname of "Spuddly Spunky Monkey," which she has never lived down and now will always wish she could hear it one last time.
Also in the early 1990s, he would meet the love of his life, Tracie, and on June 10, 1994, they married and this past June, celebrated their 25th anniversary.
In 1996, David and Tracie were blessed with the gift of their stepson, Frankie. Just as David was proud of his girls, he was proud of Frankie and shared with him a bond that only a father and son could have.
A loving husband, David and Tracie were blessed with the birth of their eldest daughter, Courtney Faith in March of 2000. A second blessing, Savannah Grace, followed in July of 2001. To anyone who would listen, David always shared stories about the girls, their accomplishments and many times, the funny moments in their lives that would make them blush. He was proud of his daughters and fiercely loyal to them.
His family will always remember him as the "jack of all trades." It seemed like there was nothing David couldn't repair or fix.
David's religion was also an important part of who he was. In 2012, he became an ordained minister, and was an active member in his congregation at Beyond the Walls church in Elyria-often helping in the food bank, and assisting in neighborhood activities and drives. He instilled in his family a sense of hope, peace and faith.
A loving son, husband, father, uncle and friend, David's passing has shocked and saddened all who knew him. Cut down in his prime, his family will have the precious memories they created with him to keep his memory alive. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his silliness and his love for family and friends.
To mourn and keep his memory alive, David is survived by his beloved wife, Tracie; their daughters, Courtney (boyfriend Garret Uterhark who Dave enjoyed spending time with) and Savannah; their step-son, Frankie Schnell; his sister, Pat (Will) Shea and her family; his brother-in-law Rian Dean and his family; and host of friends and family members. His death reunites him with his parents, Clarence, Jr. and Audrey (nee Malinosky); host of family and other friends who have gone before him and two angel babies who have been reunited with their father for eternity.
Funeral arrangements are pending at this time, but arrangements have been entrusted to the Walter Martens & Sons Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio.
The family asks that donations in David's honor be made to the family's GoFundMe account, to help with expenses.

Mark and I are saddened beyond belief. We had the pleasure of Dave and Tracies presence in the last few months by going out to dinner and hanging at Starbucks. We loved getting to know this awesome caring couple. We attend the same church where Dave was usher and security. Tracie cares about other peoples problems and is always there to help with anything she can. Being widowed Almost 5 years ago myself- I know how her heart is breaking. I pray for Gods peace and strength -for the girls -the family and especially my sweet friend Tracie. I love you all.❤
