David Podell

To Dave's family:

I am so sorry to learn of Dave's passing. I remember him vividly from my trips on RAGBRAI over 10 years ago. Those were some of the best memories I have ever had, and Dave's generosity in making those trips a reality were the reason. Even though I have not seem him for many years he made such a powerful impression on me. He was a beautiful man. A great guy to talk to, with great wisdom. (Man do we need more people like him!) I feel so lucky to have crossed paths with him.

To Dave,
Thank you for all you were able to accomplish in your life. It was a pleasure to have worked beside you to help the people of Hebron. We met so many times at the Cancer Center while you and my dad received treatment. Our thoughts and prayers are with Judy and your family during this time of sadness.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. Our poker group had the pleasure of playing cards with Dave for many years. He will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Dave's passing. We spent many days and nights studying for paramedic. He inspired me to continue trying. I am a better person for knowing him. My prayers are with your family.

Dear Judy and Family, Dave chose to help people as a career. We are especially indebted to him for encouraging and mentoring our son Aaron to employment at Hunters Ambulance. May his love of life and others be a comfort to you.

Dave WAS a truly sepcial person and mensch. I enjoyed working with him at Hunters and Middlesex. He deeply cared about his patients and his co-workers, and especially his family. He will truly be missed.

Mrs. Podell and Family:

I will sorely miss Dave. During our short time together, his compassion and his steadying influence on co-workers, patients, and those he came into contact with was an example I can hope to live up to.

Dear Judy Podell and Family,
The world has suffered a great loss. I so looked forward to my Sunday shifts when I worked out of the same Middletown base with Dave. He was so inspirational; from all of our conversations to his non selfish actions. I could tell that Dave had a great Love for EMS at Hunters; he was such a people person. He did so much work with our Union, after making our suggestion boxes to his try at being a steward. He continued his service by being so diligent and committed to the Health and Safety Committee. It is with this committee that I got to know Dave the best. He had such a love for forging the righteous fight. I will miss his sarcastic sense of humor, his intellectual wit, his creativity, His love of life, his kindness and gratuity towards other people, and most of all his friendship. I feel that I have lost a brother. My condolences and sympathy go out to all of your family and friends. Dave will be sorely missed.

I enjoyed working with Dave very much, always looking forward to his stories. He was very compassionate with his patients, and partners. His quirkiness always bringing a smile. I will miss him greatly, and send my deepest sympathies to his family.

Although I didn't work with Dave as much as I would have liked, I always enjoyed our conversations. I will miss him.

I only knew David for a few short years when our paths crossed in the EMS world.

During the few short meetings and conversations with him I was immediately drawn in by his sense of humor and obvious love for EMS and what it means to all us us who are involved.

He will be missed.

All around good guy. I will miss my conversations with him about everything and anything. Always wanting to know more even at his age and that was truly inspirational to me.
