DAVID RHOADS Obituary

RHOADS, David Austin, born June 9, 1980, departed this life on February 11, 2013, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Va. David goes to join his beloved grandfather, Edwin Rhoads Jr.; and grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Rhoads; his great-grandmother, Lillian Evans and his great-grandfather, Dave R. Evans. David leaves behind his loving father and mother, Gene and Bonnie Rhoads; also his faithful, loving 14-year-old black lab girl, Candy. He is also survived by his Aunt Carole Rike and husband, Jim Rike; uncle, Larry Rhoads and wife, Brenda, Aunt Judy Roberts and husband, Tracy; great-uncle, Richard Newsome and friend, Starla; his many cousins and family members; his many new friends and VCU staff whose lives were changed by David's love. He also leaves behind very special friends, Dr. Wayne LeGrow and wife, Marilyn, Victoria Powell, Bell Sadler, H. Lee Townsend and wife, Vicky, Pam Allen and husband, Cecil Jr., Reggie Ferguson and wife, Kari, Anthony Bowser and wife, Tangela, Patricia Helen Hicks, Dennis Allen and wife, Cecilia; care giver, Debbie Whiting, Michael Otten, and Wilson Clary and wife, Pat. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 1 p.m., at Word of Life Assembly of God Church, located at 707 Brunswick Avenue, Emporia, Va., and will be officiated by Pastor Gary Moorehouse. Gene and Bonnie, I am sorry for your loss of sweet David. I remember being with him in church and he had that infectious smille. I lost touch of him since he grew up into a young man but I'll always remember him fondly. Hold on to each other and keep those moments of him together in your hearts. You both are in my heart and my prayers during this difficult time.
