It's with many tears that we announce the passing of David E. A. Ritchie, beloved husband of Irene (Jensen) and much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle and friend. Dave was born in Calgary to David B. and Annie Ritchie on May 20, 1929. He attended school at Tuxedo Park, Balmoral, Crescent Heights and the University of Alberta. He obtained a B.Sc. in Pharmacy and dispensed for a few years before joining the Bureau of Dangerous Drugs where he worked as a Federal Government Inspector for twenty-seven years. He is survived by six sons: Bruce, Bob (Sandy), Bill (Joan), Bernie (Shelley), Bert (Sheri), and Brian (Tracy); nine Grandchildren: Douglas, Lynnsey (Chris), Curtis, Steven (Allison), Megan, Madison, Katelyn, Jessica, and Shelby; and four Great- Grandchildren: Jeremy, Jordyn, Griffin and Jacob. Dave is also survived by seventeen nieces and nephews; a brother and sister-in- law: Richard (Irene); special friends: Christine and Jake; and many other friends and acquaintances from Calgary where Dave spent most of his life. He was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Jean; three siblings: Archie (Margaret), Helen, Anne (Hugh); a nephew, David J., and his wife, Colleen; and a niece's husband, Roland Ulanicki. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. In living memory of David Ritchie, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
