DAVID D. ROWE age 73 of Colon, Michigan passed away Tuesday afternoon September 21, 2010 at the Fairview Living Centre in Centreville, Michigan. He was born May 22, 1937 in Sturgis, Michigan a son of the late Ellis and Blanche (Wilson) Rowe. He had resided in Colon since 2000. His early life was spent in Brighton, Indiana and he had lived in Sturgis for many years. On May 4, 1974 he married Viola Mae Inman inIndiana. She died December 20, 2009. David retired from Ross Laboratories in Sturgis following 37 years of dedicated employment. Following his retirement he owned and operated Dave's Lawn care in Colon for many years and worked at L.M. Gray Engine Repair in colon and Vogt's Floral in Sturgis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and repairing automobiles. David is survived by one son, Roland (Lori) Rowe of Sturgis, one daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Larimer of Branch, one step-daughter, Sheila (Jay) Wilkins of Cummings, Georgia, one step-son, Marvin (Sue) Smith of Sturgis, eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Tera) Rowe, Alexis (Carl) Flowers, Andrea Rowe, Jake Rowe, Josh (Angela) Larimer, Merriah (Steve) Moore, Ashley (Darren) McKnight and Abi Larimer, two sisters, Betty Peters, and Phyllis Rowe both of Sturgis, one brother, Russell Rowe of Sturgis, brother in-law, Larry Lee of Centreville, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alvin and Nancy Inman of Sturgis He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, Bonnie Lee and one nephew, Chris Lee. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of David D. Rowe will be held at 12 Noon Saturday at the Colon United Methodist Church 224 N. Blackstone Ave., Colon, Michigan. The Rev. Donald Graham will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn cemetery in Sturgis at a later date. The family suggests those wishing to give a memorial donation in Mr. Rowe's memory consider the Colon Caring Kitchen c/o: Colon Baptist Church, 200 Frank St., Colon, MI 49040.
