Dear beloved family of the late Dr. Russell,

I was randomly searching for my previous instructors at TUSDM, and sadly, became aware of Dr. Russell´s passing. I am deeply saddened about this news. Although it has been sometime since Dr. Russell´s passing, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I hope you continue to find strength in the love and support of those around you, and comfort in the memories you hold dear. Dr. Russell will be always be remembered for his positive attitude, kind leadership style, and the positive impact he had on TUSM when the dental school was going through a transition. He was helpful and genuinely nice with whomever had the privilege of knowing him and/or working with him. His radiant smile and approachable demeanor along with his caring personality is a memory that I will always remember about him. Please know that I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. May he Rest In Peace.

With deepest sympathy,

Respectfully,

Dr. Michael Tarighati (D´96)

I knew David and Sharin when he was doing his residency at Overlook Hospital, he had a new joke every time I saw him, we lost touch a while after I visited them in Boston, they were extremely nice hosts and we had a great time. I moved back to Costa Rica but often think of the nice people I knew in the US and he always comes to mind.
Sharin my most sincere condolences, may you find the strength in the grace of God.

I just read about Dr. Russell's death in the BU alumni magazine. I am so, so sorry the world lost such a talented and caring man at such a young age. Dr. Russell took excellent care of my teeth for over 25 years. Whenever I saw him in his office or on the city streets, he made me feel I was his very favorite patient. I'm sure he treated all his patients that way. I enjoyed our friendly debates about politics, his deep interest in the projects he undertook, and his enjoyment of time spent with family. My heartfelt sympathy to Sharin, his siblings, and nieces and nephews. It must be incredibly hard to no longer have him in your lives.

I am so so sorry. Dr. Russell was my dentist for 20 years; he became my friend as well. He was a brilliant and loving human being.

I was very saddened today to find out that Dr Russell passed away. My heartfelt condolences to the Russell family and especially to his wife Sharin for the loss of this amazing person. Anytime I saw him at the Dentist, it was more a social event than a dental appointment. He was always so friendly and made you feel as if you were part of his inner circle. A true gentleman, he will be sorely missed.
Rest easy David

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the entire Russell Family on the passing of this truly amazing and gentle hearted man, who was my friend.

I met Dr. Russell at a Boston Police Athletic League Golf Tournament some 15 years ago while having coffee..

We spoke for several minutes and exchanged each other’s contact information. We departed ways with him thanking me for being a Boston Police Officer and with him sincerely saying to me, “if you or your family are ever in need of anything dental work, please reach out to me”. He wished me well and told me to stay safe and I never forgot our half hour long exchange.

Several years had past by and I was in need of some dental work so I reached out to Dr. Russell. He remembered who I was and had me meet him at his practice located in Post Office Square. Once inside, Dr. Russell welcomed me and introduced me to his entire staff.. While there I met some great people to include another gem of a person in Dr. Nick Dellorusso, an absolute gentleman and dear friend to Dr. Russell.

Aside from being a talented and compassionate
dentist, Dr. Russell became an instant friend who took care of me for many years.

I set up an appointment several months ago, that I now regret, had to cancel because of the pandemic.

Yesterday I arrived at Trinity Dental for my yearly appointment, my yearly “catch up” session with Dr. Russell, and had sensed that something was different when I arrived. Something was just not right.. I didn’t recognize any of the staff and did not see Dr. Russell who would always greet me in the lobby upon my arrival.. Always !

I had purposely set up this appointment with the hopes of catching up with Dr. Russell as we had done so many times before. I looked forward to our yearly sessions where we would talk about everything from dental stuff, to my family, to politics, to the police department and the problems facing today’s world. More than a dentist, Dr. Russell was a dear friend who’s opinion I valued, I trusted, truly respected, and I am going to miss. He was a person with whom I could easily talk to openly and I know he felt the same way about me..

Yesterday while I was waiting for Dr. Russell, I was greeted by a different Dentist who regretfully informed me of Dr. Russell’s passing. I was in shock, in disbelief, and truly saddened by the news. I couldn’t believe it and I’m still in disbelief as I write this note.

I can’t begin to tell you how sorry that I am for all of you, who like myself, were blessed to have had Dr. Russell in our lives and are going to miss him dearly. RIP my friend and watch down over us all . .
