David Mark Schrock, Sr. 64, of Appomattox, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Linda May Schrock for 46 years.

Born on August 15, 1952 in Elkhart, IN, he was the son of Duane B. Schrock and the late Georgia Ellen Schrock. David graduated Summa Cum Laude from Liberty University with a B.S. degree in 1983 and from UVA with a M.S. degree in Education in 2008. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps and retired as a teacher with the Campbell County Public School System after 10 years. Prior to becoming a teacher, David was a minister for 18 years followed by owning his own drywall business, called Schrock's Drywall. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, cycling, photography, and genealogy.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a brother, Burt Schrock.

In addition to his wife, Linda, David is survived by his children, David Mark Schrock, Jr. and wife Vivian, Eric Schrock, and Kelly Schrock Osborne and husband Shawn; seven grandchildren, Savannah Schrock, Julia Schrock, Wesley Schrock, Oliver Schrock, Annabelle Schrock, Ethan Osborne and Abigail Osborne; brother, Darrell Schrock and wife Heather; sisters, Ann Fleshman and Mary Ellen Turner and husband Gary; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Ron Rumburg officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.

David was a very caring & loving person. We enjoyed him so much when he was paster at Terrace View Church in Forest Va . I used to live near you in Forest Va. & lost touch when you moved. My thoughts & prayers are with the family

I also am a former classmate of David's. I remember one fellow class mate saying of him that he was the only person he knew that had the brains of a genius and the physical ability of an Olympic athlete. I am David's cousin on his mom's side, daughter of his uncle, C. Raymond Shaw, Sr., Jane S. Glass. I remember David as a child when his family would visit our family, and we would all play together. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathy to the entire family in this time of grieving. My dad had a special affection for his sister, Ellen S. Schrock, and her children.

I graduated with David from Appomattox County High School in 1970. Unfortunately he did not attend any of our class reunions so I have not kept in touch. I have fond memories of him from high school. It seems he had a very good life and I am happy for that. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

David and I went to high school together. I was on my way to a class gathering when I heard of his death. I remember him as highly intelligent, quite good looking, very introspective, and a young man who seemed to walk to the beat of a different drum. It is nice to see that he was a fellow educator. I remember Burt, Ann and Mary Ellen. My regards to the family.
