Laurens...David was born to Robert and Liberty (Grethen) Schultz in Fort Dodge, IA on June 7, 1946. Went to be with his Savior on August 26, 2017. Was Baptised and Confirmed into the Christian faith and was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran in Mallard, IA. Attended grade school in Rolfe, IA and Mallard, IA. Graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School class of 1964.
He served in the United States Army from 1965-1969 at bases in Virginia and Alaska. Married Cynthia Esther Truelson on Sept 1, 1967. They moved to Laurens, IA in 1969 where he worked at Mefferd Industries and later for Pocahontas County on road maintenance for 42 and ½ years, retiring in 2012.
Preceded in death by his mother Liberty, brother Jimmie, sister-in-law Sharon, and niece Kari Ann. Survived by his loving wife Cindy; his children Daniel (Kinlin) Schultz of St. Louis Park, MN, Heather Haydon of Earlham, IA, and James (Joeana Taylor) Schultz of Norwood, MN; his grandchildren Annica, Jonah, and Elliott Schultz, Kimball, MacKenzie, and Avery Haydon, Cassie Cowen, and Logan Schultz; brothers Bob (Bonnie) and Mike (Maureen) Schultz and sister Donna Schultz; sister-in-law Brenda Truelson; brothers-in-law James (Janice) Truelson, Edgar (Scarlett) Truelson, Arnold (Kathy) Truelson, and Andrew (Rosann) Truelson.


Dad - you left us too soon, but your are with your Jesus and we will see you again.

I always enjoyed being around David, very down to earth and liked having a good time. Remember the times we went fishing at Bach's Pond. I lived only a block or so away at Mrs Thompson's house. I rented a room there I was from out of town going to JC. Great guy.
