I am saddened as is my husband Siamak, who worked with David at Montefiore for 40 years. Whenever we ran into this old friend, he always made us laugh with some outrageous pun or joke. He was a great tennis player and alot of fun. And he was a wonderful husband and father. He will be sorely missed. And I am sorry we found out too late to attend his Memorial Service.

We are sorry for your and your family's great loss, Amy. Though we met him only on your wedding week-end, he was undoubtedly extraordinary, as are you. Wishing you comfort & peace. Carol & Dana

David was always fun to be around. He had a wicked sense of humor, and he was very kind. We will miss him a great deal.

David (never just Dave) was my very special brother-in-law for over 20 years. Generous, humorous, helpful with advise, great partner in golf and tennis (too good!) and most of all - outstanding role model for parenting. He will be sorely missed by all those who loved him.

I am so sorry - I just say this. Your dad was a very special friend back working together in the good ol' Montefiore days. I saw him recently with your mom and it was good to talk. He was one good guy and will be missed. Suzan Krauland

The first time I met David was when I was 16 years old. Nervous and awkward don't do justice to how I felt. My friend Ken's father was a renowned, brilliant doctor. What could I possibly offer to a conversation? Within 5 minutes, at his insistence, I was calling him David, laughing at stories and feeling as though I was chatting with an old friend. That was one of the talents I came to love and appreciate about David. It was effortless for him to make everyone feel at ease. It was just who David was.
It didn't matter who you were or your lot in life, David treated you as if you were an old cherished friend he was delighted to see. He made me feel 9 feet tall. Over the years, I became a bigger fan and friend of David Segel. His kindness, caring soul and brilliant mind were a light so many of us were drawn to and found infectious. Later, when he "retired" and started his practice as a family doctor, I became a patient. One Sunday night at 10:00 pm, I called David at home because I was coughing blood. I was terrified that I had every horrific medical malady imaginable. David calmly asked me to check the roof of my mouth for a cut or abrasion. Oh. My relief was matched by my embarrassment and I offered a bumbling apology for a frantic call on a Sunday night. He replied, "George, don't worry. But in a few days, you'll feel awful." Why? "Well, that's when you're going to receive my bill." Thanks, David. Not only for not sending a bill but for everything over the years. You are a giant who made a difference in our lives.
With great affection, George Savarese
