KINSTON - David Ernest Shefka, 92, of Kinston died Tuesday, June 3, 2014. He was born in Bessemer, Michigan on September 13, 1921. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen and grandson, Josh Aker. Mr. Shefka graduated from Georgia Tech and the University of Illinois with an Electrical Engineering degree and retired from General Electric. He was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his two sons, Richard Shefka and wife Frances, of Kinston, and Michael Shefka of Kipling, N.C.; three grandchildren, Richard Shefka Jr. of Kinston, Bryan Ward of Raleigh, and Daniel Shefka of Kipling. A private memorial service will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to howardandcarter.com. Howard-Carter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
