I was very shocked and saddened to hear that we lost Dave. "Tap" as a lot of the guys at Reliance Trailers called him. He was a very interesting and entertaining guy to say the least. We had a lot of good times on the golf course over the years. I moved away from the area many years ago , but would always do my best when returning to see my family , to visit the Tappans and play a round of golf with Dave. No matter how poorly the golf game was going , it was always very entertaining! He will be missed by many.

So sorry for your loss.I hadn't seen Dave for years, but I've never forgotten him.He told me years ago, when we worked together"You (me) live to work and I work to live." He was so right, but was years latter that I really understood what he was saying. We lost a truly good man. Leon Veland

When a red truck goes up or down the hill, we always look to see if Dave is the driver. We've been waving to him for years; or he's stopped to chat. My first encounter with Dave was when Cody was in multi-age class. We had a few laughs on field trips. Always had to catch up about the kids when running into him at Safeway. Our condolences to you, Susan, and kids.

WE ARE DONALD AND SUSANNE BROWN. WE LIVE AT 417 ANNAHY DRIVE. WE WERE SHOCKED AND SADDENED BY HIS SUDDEN DEATH AS I AM SURE ALL OF HIS FAMILY IS TOO . MANY TIMES BOTH DON AND I TALKED TO HIM ON THE HILL AS WE WERE PASSING EACH OTHER . THOSE VISITS WILL TRULY BE MISSED. DON OF COURSE SPENT LOTS OF TIME VISITING WITH HIM AT THE GOLF COURSE. RECENTLY I KNOW THAT SUSAN HAD KNEE SURGERY AND AS ALWAYS HE WAS RIGHT THERE TO SUPPORT, LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF HER. SUSAN I CAN NOT IMAGINE WHAT THIS LOSS HAS DONE TO YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN. KNOW THAT ALL OF YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS !

Soup as the name I have always known him is still in the present for me. My memories of Soup and Susan (always said together) are some of the best times in my life. We played for the famous (infamous?) Marino's Hogs softball team in the beer league, when it was a real keg of beer league. Cliff and Donna, the two Gary's, and numerous other friends would enjoy the friendships, joking and having a good time, with both Soup and Susan. Soup was a diehard Oakland Raiders fan and enjoyed them during the Kenny Stabler era and always commented on how they dominated the other teams. Camping trips, river trips all good times. Soup would give you the shirt off his back and have you back. Kind heart, great smile, devoted husband and father. He gave me a golf lesson and to this day I remember his advice to keep my eyes on the ball. I still miss the ball and will miss him telling me how to swing my club.

I will miss Dave. He was my neighbor and my friend. We often chatted about kids, dogs, politics and life as I often found him in his garage or yard when I took my daily walks with my dog. Always a smile and a welcoming ear. I was a stay at home Mom and he a stay at home Dad up on Annahy Dr. Our stories of our children's antics were often humorous. Dave and Susan often shared their Farm Frash eggs with me as I walked by. His wife Susan retired a few years back and what a nice blessing that they had these years together. I always admired how nice his yard and garden looked, how well his kids were doing, and his positive attitude about life. My walks will seem emptier without your smiling face. Rest In Peace Friend.

My heartfelt sympathy to Dave's family. I looked forward to his friendly smile and wave and the occasional chat when I would drive by. His passing will leave an empty place in our neighborhood where he was always there to lend a helping hand.
