Dave was one of my heroes. We worked together in the late 90's teaching kids Junior Ground school classes at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, at that time it was called the National Aviation Museum. Dave was humble, loved life and was always forgiving. As I watched him inspire countless young kids between the ages of 8 to 12, I was always in awe in full of respect that such an amazing man would give so much back to a bunch of kids. Those kids never realized they had on of Canada's Heroes teaching them the basics of flight. I always enjoyed Dave's chats and great sense of humour. I am sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you in this time of great loss. A great man loved by all who leaves a big legacy. I have 4 heroes in my life, and Dave was one of them. Thank yu for sharing him with us! God Bless Dave Tate!

CNAG Banshee shares your sadness at the passing of Dave a true gentleman and champion of Naval Aviation who's contribution to military aviation in general was considerable. We of Banshee believe his memory will live on as he joins other naval aviators who have preceded him to the DELTA. our collective thoughts are with the family.

Hi,
I'm one of the tour guides at the Aviation Museum, and I have to say how wonderful it is to be able to continue to hear Mr.Tate's stories through the videos that were recorded while he was with us. I am also very grateful for the many years of service that he dedicated to Canada as a naval aviator and in so many respects, and wanted to thank you- his family- for your contribution of love and support during his years of service.
Peace be with you all,
-Janicd

Our condolences to Mary, Julia, Paul & Jane, and your families, from the fraternal organization of Canadian Naval Air Group(CNAG or Sea Nag)of which Dave was a very proud and integral Member. All of us had many happy memories of serving with Dave Tate, either shore-based or at sea on the Maggie or Bonnie - mine go back to the late 1950's on VF 871 with Sea Furies, which Dave enjoyed flying! He was always a very considerate man in his dealings with both his peers and the Men serving under his guidance on the various Naval Air Squadrons. We were all very happy to know Dave, and shall remember him in our minds and hearts. From one Saskabusher to another, may you always have a big blue sky and a vista that goes on forever. Chuck Rolfe, Past President, Hammy Gray VC Ottawa Chapter, CNAG.
