Dear Bridgette
I hope you will receive this message ... we just found out yesterday that David had passed away when Steven did a random internet search ... The family wanted to send their condolences but had no means of contact as Dad is now very ill and he was the only one with Davids contact details . Needless to say we were all shocked and so sorry to hear your sad news ... its been over a year since his passing so we hope the family are slowly coming to terms with their loss ...
Please do let me know if you receive this , It would be nice to have your contact details to enable a private conversation .
Kind regards
Terry, Margaret Steven and Alison

Dear Brigitte and Family,
I was so saddened to learn of David's passing! David was a great guy--there are many things about him I will always remember. I recall how he would come down the hallway so silently wearing his well-worn Birkenstocks or sneakers. Sometimes I would ask him about projects he was working on in the lab, and he would always take his time and explain things to me in a way that I could understand, and I felt truly respected. I recall his soulful dark eyes that hid stories and that mischievous grin that made you think he was up to no good! It is amazing how one life can touch so many others--I will always have a place in my heart for David. May you find peace of heart during this difficult time.
Love you, Julie Dzengeleski

My deepest sympathies go out to Professor's Family. I never met him but in the last three months it has been able to guide me towards a new approach to my experiments with his emails and his advice. His work was so elegant and the EBV field has lost so much with this loss.
Accept my heartfelt condolences

Dear Brigitte, I was so saddened to hear of your husband's passing. While I did not know him very well, I certainly got to know you during my 10 years at Tufts, and working with you and Albert on getting your BL-3 lab up and running.
You are an amazing woman, mother and scholar. And I wish you heartfelt prayers for you and your family as you navigate through this difficult time.
Best,
Yvonne M. Glendon

Dear Brigitte -
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your husband. He was an extraordinary scientist and as I could observe, a dedicated teacher. He will leave a big void in our field!

My deepest sympathies go out to Brigitte and David's family. David was a scientist's scientist. He was rigorous and firm, but open to discourse and evidence. His work on the latency of herpesviruses was elegant and foundational. His methods and approaches heavily influenced my own work and set the standard for the field. I remember well talking with him at a Keystone meeting at which we debated (over sandwiches and into the afternoon) the nature of viral latency and its effects on the host. David was open, kind, honest, supportive, filled with curiosity and a man of integrity. He will be missed by the field and by me personally.

Dr. Huber and family - I am saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Thorley-Lawson. A consummate professional who was always smiling and the time to stop and say a quick hello. His dedication to his work and his students was second to none. He was a part of my Tufts life for better than 25 years. Many he rest in peace knowing that his memory will be with his family and colleagues at Tufts.
