David Thrasher, Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2025.
David George Thrasher, Sr., age 86, of Bridgewater, MA, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, after a long courageous battle with cancer, or as he would say "a lack of grease under his nails".

David enlisted in the USMC in 1956 where he earned his GED and was a cook for his platoon. After his discharge he settled in Bridgewater with his family. David worked in the Drywall field. He was the owner of Thrasher and Son Drywall in Bridgewater for many years.

His stories of growing up in Elmwood with his brothers, Charles, Jr., John, Ronald and Gerald never got old and will be missed! He will leave a large void in his family's lives and will be missed more than words can express.

David is survived by his daughter, Kelly McGovern and husband Stephen of Raynham, son David Thrasher, Jr. of Middleboro, son Daniel Thrasher of Bridgewater, son Dean Thrasher and wife Kerin of Lakeville, son Douglas Thrasher and wife Stephanie of Bridgewater. He was the son of the late Charles and Francis (Carpenter) Thrasher. David had many grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Kerri, Meaghan, Ashlee, Brittanie, Daniel, Amanda, Dean Jr., Courtney, David III, Emilee, Olivia, Elijha, Brett, Dillin and Evan as well as 14 great grandchildren: Erin, Aiden, Benjamin, Connor, Carter, Christian, Charli, Willow, Autumn, Jackson, Braedon, Raegan, Millie and Lane. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will remember him fondly.

David's favorite time was with his children and grandchildren. There was never a lack of family cookouts and birthday parties at the family home on East Street. He loved making everyone a homemade birthday cake for the parties. He was a car enthusiast who loved building, driving and repairing all things cars. He was a big Nascar and Patriots fan which would be playing on the living room television most weekends. He loved to collect diecast and model cars and had a very extensive collection. He was also very proud of coaching all his son's soccer teams for over 9 years in Bridgewater.
