David Tuttle, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 3, 1935 and later raised in Garden City, New York. He was the son of David K. Tuttle and Christine Mooney Tuttle. He graduated from

Southern Arizona School, Tucson, Arizona in 1953 where he was sent due to health reasons. He graduated with a B.A. in English from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont in 1957 where he was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity. He was commissioned as a 1st lieutenant in 1958 and served in the Army with the 6th armored calvary regiment at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

In 1959 he began his career as a securities analyst on Wall Street with Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis. He began classes at New York University Graduate School of Business Administration and graduated with an MBA in 1963 where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, an honorary business school society. He spent the next ten years as an investment analyst with Legg Mason in New York. He then went on to become a money manager with Bessemer Trust first in New York and later in Palm Beach, Florida. He made a series of moves after that culminating as an investment advisor for PNC Wealth Management in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in Philadelphia he attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts specializing in watercolor painting. Painting became a focal point in retirement, along with fly fishing and tennis.

David retired in 1994 first to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and most recently to Dorset, Vermont where he was a member of the Dorset Field Club. He and his wife, Pamela, moved full-time to Vero Beach in 2022 having spent the previous 20 winters here before. He was a member of the Moorings Yacht and Country Club where he played tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pamela Hooper Tuttle; two children of a prior marriage, Sarah (Bill) Tuttle Horner, David Kitchell Tuttle III and 4 grandchildren; William Tuttle Horner, Andrew (Bridget) Clark Horner, Benjamin Wilkins Horner and Katherine Yimei Horner.

Burial will be in Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester, Vermont. A memorial concert is planned for October in Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of Indian River County.

I had such fun getting to know David and Pam during our Cantata choir rehearsals at Christ by the Sea Methodist church. I'll remember his wit and quick rejoinders. He was a wonderful listener and conversationalist.
