David C Urano

David C. Urano, of Big Lake, Alaska, passed away at home April 21st, 2025 of natural causes. He was 66 years old.

David was born on August 31st, 1958 in Greeley, Colorado to Charles Y. and Virginia C. (Christner) Urano. He attended school in Greeley until his graduation in the summer of 1976. He joined the Army and served his country for four years, including one year guarding the Demilitarized Zone

in South Korea. He returned to Greeley, enrolling in Aims Community College. He

completed a two year degree program in Computer Science, then transferred to the University of Northern Colorado, graduating with a

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He worked at Aims in computer programming, later moving to Colorado State University where he remained until his retirement in 2012. After his retirement he continued

to work in computer programming as a private contractor. In 2023, he moved to Alaska with his wife, where he planned to spend vast amounts of time fishing.

David was a man of great faith who took joy in the worship of God. A voracious reader, David's interests were wide ranging and varied. He

studied history, read science fiction as well as western novels, and valued reading about and then applying the latest fishing techniques. He was an avid fisherman, often stopping along his route home from Fort Collins to

spend an hour or two, weather permitting, with lines in the water. David savored cooking. He was compiling a book of recipes he loved as well as recipes he'd created. He was also an enthusiastic gun collector. He took great pleasure loading his own ammunition and had begun to build his own guns.

David is survived by his wife Shannon (Bybee), of Big Lake, Alaska, a sister Janice K. Elliott (David) of Fort Scott, KS, a brother Ronald J. Urano

of O Fallon, IL, one nephew Steven Elliott of Fort Scott, KS and one niece Taylor Hursh of Decatur, IL.

Memorial services will be held on Aug 23, 2025 at 10am at Mountain View Church in Greeley, Colorado.
