Dave Allen Van Meeteren, age 55, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2008, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Greg Timmer officiating. Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be Monday, February 11, from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. all at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. David Allen Van Meeteren was born on September 10, 1952, in Sheldon, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Delia (Van Bruggen) Van Meeteren. He lived his youth in Sheldon, where he attended school and graduated from Sheldon High School. He attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Linda Mastbergen of Sheldon, Iowa, on November 24, 1972, in Sheldon. They lived in Sheldon where Dave was a farmer. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where he was presently serving as a deacon. Dave enjoyed being with his family and he took great pride in his children's accomplishments in sports and in their personal lives. His grandchildren were a treasure to him. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and landscaping around his home. He was very involved in helping to build the baseball and softball sports complex at Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa. Dave passed away on Friday, February 8, 2008, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Linda of 35 years; his children: Claudine Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA, Adam and Krista Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA, and their children: Brayden and Carson, Justin Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA, Lori Van Meeteren and her fiancé Barry Folkens of Rochester, MN; one brother: Wayne and wife Lois Van Meeteren of Sheldon, IA; two sisters: Marlene and husband Mark Goesch of Sioux Center, IA, Doris "Dolly" and husband Allen Jiskoot of Newkirk, IA; Linda's brother Phil and sisters Marcella and Sharon; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol Ann.
